Shalok:
ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੰਤ ॥
mat pūrī paradhān tē gur pūrē man mant .
Perfect is the intellect, and most distinguished is the reputation, of those whose minds are filled with the Mantra of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਿਹ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੁਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੧॥
jih jāniō prabh āpunā nānak tē bhagavant .1.
Those who come to know their God, O Nanak, are very fortunate. ||1||

Pauree:
ਮਮਾ ਜਾਹੂ ਮਰਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥ ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਪਤੀਆਨਾ ॥
mamā jāhū maram pashānā . bhētat sādhasang patīānā .
MAMMA: Those who understand God's mystery are satisfied, joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਉਆ ਕੈ ਸਮਤ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
dukh sukh uā kai samat bīchārā .
They look upon pleasure and pain as the same.
ਨਰਕ ਸੁਰਗ ਰਹਤ ਅਉਤਾਰਾ ॥
narak surag rahat autārā .
They are exempt from incarnation into heaven or hell.
ਤਾਹੂ ਸੰਗ ਤਾਹੂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪਾ ॥
tāhū sang tāhū niralēpā .
They live in the world, and yet they are detached from it.
ਪੂਰਨ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਸੇਖਾ ॥
pūran ghat ghat purakh bisēkhā .
The Sublime Lord, the Primal Being, is totally pervading each and every heart.
ਉਆ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਉਆਹੂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
uā ras mah uāhū sukh pāiā .
In His Love, they find peace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਪਤ ਨਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੪੨॥
nānak lipat nahī tih māiā .42.
O Nanak, Maya does not cling to them at all. ||42||
