Shalok:
ਕਿਰਤ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਸੁਭ ਅਸੁਭ ਕੀਨੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
kirat kamāvan subh asubh kīnē tin prabh āp .
God Himself causes one to perform good and bad actions.
ਪਸੁ ਆਪਨ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਹਾ ਕਮਾਤਿ ॥੧॥
pas āpan hau hau karai nānak bin har kahā kamāt .1.
The beast indulges in egotism, selfishness and conceit; O Nanak, without the Lord, what can anyone do? ||1||
ਪਉੜੀ ॥
paurī .
Pauree:
ਏਕਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
ēkah āp karāvanahārā .
The One Lord Himself is the Cause of all actions.
ਆਪਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥
āpah pāp punn bisathārā .
He Himself distributes sins and noble acts.
ਇਆ ਜੁਗ ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਆਪਹਿ ਲਾਇਓ ॥
iā jug jit jit āpah lāiō .
In this age, people are attached as the Lord attaches them.
ਸੋ ਸੋ ਪਾਇਓ ਜੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਇਓ ॥
sō sō pāiō j āp divāiō .
They receive that which the Lord Himself gives.
ਉਆ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਊ ॥
uā kā ant n jānai kōū .
No one knows His limits.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਊ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਊ ॥
jō jō karai sōū phun hōū .
Whatever He does, comes to pass.
ਏਕਹਿ ਤੇ ਸਗਲਾ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥
ēkah tē sagalā bisathārā .
From the One, the entire expanse of the Universe emanated.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੮॥
nānak āp savāranahārā .8.
O Nanak, He Himself is our Saving Grace. ||8||
