ਰੰਗਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਭੋਗਾ ਇਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਅੰਧ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
rang sang bikhiā kē bhōgā in sang andh n jānī .1.
He is immersed in the enjoyment of corrupt pleasures; engrossed in them, the blind fool does not understand. ||1||
ਹਉ ਸੰਚਉ ਹਉ ਖਾਟਤਾ ਸਗਲੀ ਅਵਧ ਬਿਹਾਨੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau sanchau hau khātatā sagalī avadh bihānī . rahāu .
I am earning profits, I am getting rich, he says, as his life passes away. ||Pause||
ਹਉ ਸੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਹਉ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਝਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
hau sūrā paradhān hau kō nāhī mujhah samānī .2.
I am a hero, I am famous and distinguished; no one is equal to me.||2||
ਜੋਬਨਵੰਤ ਅਚਾਰ ਕੁਲੀਨਾ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਗੁਮਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
jōbanavant achār kulīnā man mah hōi gumānī .3.
I am young, cultured, and born of a good family. In his mind, he is proud and arrogant like this. ||3||
ਜਿਉ ਉਲਝਾਇਓ ਬਾਧ ਬੁਧਿ ਕਾ ਮਰਤਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਸਰਾਨੀ ॥੪॥
jiu ulajhāiō bādh budh kā maratiā nahī bisarānī .4.
He is trapped by his false intellect, and he does not forget this until he dies. ||4||
ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਸਖੇ ਪਾਛੇ ਤਿਨਹੂ ਕਉ ਸੰਪਾਨੀ ॥੫॥
bhāī mīt bandhap sakhē pāshē tinahū kau sanpānī .5.
Brothers, friends, relatives and companions who live after him - he entrusts his wealth to them. ||5||
ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਮਨੁ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਨੀ ॥੬॥
jit lāgō man bāsanā ant sāī pragatānī .6.
That desire, to which the mind is attached, at the last moment, becomes manifest. ||6||
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਸੁਚਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਇਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਬੰਧਾਨੀ ॥੭॥
ahanbudh such karam kar ih bandhan bandhānī .7.
He may perform religious deeds, but his mind is egotistical, and he is bound by these bonds. ||7||
ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਨੀ ॥੮॥੩॥੧੫॥੪੪॥ ਜੁਮਲਾ
daiāl purakh kirapā karah nānak dās dasānī .8.3.15.44. jumalā
O Merciful Lord, please bless me Your Mercy, that Nanak may become the slave of Your slaves. ||8||3||15||44||Total||
