ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
sabad man rangiā liv lāi .
The mind is attuned to the Word of the Shabad; it is lovingly attuned to the Lord.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
nij ghar vasiā prabh kī rajāi .1.
It abides within its own home, in harmony with the Lord's Will. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਜਾਇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
satigur sēviai jāi abhimān .
Serving the True Guru, egotistical pride departs,
ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gōvid pāīai gunī nidhān .1. rahāu .
and the Lord of the Universe, the Treasure of Excellence, is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਜਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਉ ਖਾਇ ॥
man bairāgī jā sabad bhau khāi .
The mind becomes detached and free of desire, when it experiences the Fear of God, through the Shabad.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਸਭ ਤੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
mērā prabh niramalā sabh tai rahiā samāi .
My Immaculate God is pervading and contained among all.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
gur kirapā tē milai milāi .2.
By Guru's Grace, one is united in His Union. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
har dāsan kō dās sukh pāē .
The slave of the Lord's slave attains peace.
ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਏ ॥
mērā har prabh in bidh pāiā jāē .
My Lord God is found in this way.
ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੩॥
har kirapā tē rām gun gāē .3.
By the Grace of the Lord, one comes to sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਬਹੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
dhrig bah jīvan jit har nām n lagai piār .
Cursed is that long life, during which love for the Lord's Name is not enshrined.
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਮੋਹ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥
dhrig sēj sukhālī kāman mōh gubār .
Cursed is that comfortable bed which lures one into the darkness of attachment to sexual desire.
ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥
tin saphal janam jin nām adhār .4.
Fruitful is the birth of that person who takes the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
dhrig dhrig grih kutanb jit har prīt n hōi .
Cursed, cursed is that home and family, in which the love of the Lord is not embraced.
ਸੋਈ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
sōī hamārā mīt jō har gun gāvai sōi .
He alone is my friend, who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੫॥
har nām binā mai avar n kōi .5.
Without the Lord's Name, there is no other for me. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
satigur tē ham gat pat pāī .
From the True Guru, I have obtained salvation and honor.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਦੂਖੁ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥
har nām dhiāiā dūkh sagal mitāī .
I have meditated on the Name of the Lord, and all my sufferings have been erased.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
sadā anand har nām liv lāī .6.
I am in constant bliss, lovingly attuned to the Lord's Name. ||6||
ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੁਧਿ ਭਈ ॥
gur miliai ham kau sarīr sudh bhaī .
Meeting the Guru, I came to understand my body.
ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਭ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਈ ॥
haumai trisanā sabh agan bujhaī .
The fires of ego and desire have been totally quenched.
ਬਿਨਸੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਖਿਮਾ ਗਹਿ ਲਈ ॥੭॥
binasē krōdh khimā gah laī .7.
Anger has been dispelled, and I have grasped hold of tolerance. ||7||
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ॥
har āpē kripā karē nām dēvai .
The Lord Himself showers His Mercy, and bestows the Naam.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਲੇਵੈ ॥
guramukh ratan kō viralā lēvai .
How rare is that Gurmukh, who receives the jewel of the Naam.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵੈ ॥੮॥੮॥
nānak gun gāvai har alakh abhēvai .8.8.
O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the Unknowable, the Incomprehensible. ||8||8||

ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਭੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

The mind has intuitively healed itself, through the Fear of God.
