ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਜੀਇ ਆਈ ਕਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
gur kī mat jīi āī kār .1.
The Guru's Teachings are useful to my soul. ||1||
ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
in bidh rām ramat man māniā .
Chanting the Lord's Name in this way, my mind is satisfied.
ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
giān anjan gur sabad pashāniā .1. rahāu .
I have obtained the ointment of spiritual wisdom, recognizing the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਇਕੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
ik sukh māniā sahaj milāiā .
Blended with the One Lord, I enjoy intuitive peace.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
niramal bānī bharam chukāiā .
Through the Immaculate Bani of the Word, my doubts have been dispelled.
ਲਾਲ ਭਏ ਸੂਹਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
lāl bhaē sūhā rang māiā .
Instead of the pale color of Maya, I am imbued with the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love.
ਨਦਰਿ ਭਈ ਬਿਖੁ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
nadar bhaī bikh thāk rahāiā .2.
By the Lord's Glance of Grace, the poison has been eliminated. ||2||
ਉਲਟ ਭਈ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਗਿਆ ॥
ulat bhaī jīvat mar jāgiā .
When I turned away, and became dead while yet alive, I was awakened.
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਵੇ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਿਆ ॥
sabad ravē man har siu lāgiā .
Chanting the Word of the Shabad, my mind is attached to the Lord.
ਰਸੁ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ॥
ras sangrah bikh parahar tiāgiā .
I have gathered in the Lord's sublime essence, and cast out the poison.
ਭਾਇ ਬਸੇ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਿਆ ॥੩॥
bhāi basē jam kā bhau bhāgiā .3.
Abiding in His Love, the fear of death has run away. ||3||
ਸਾਦ ਰਹੇ ਬਾਦੰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
sād rahē bādan ahankārā .
My taste for pleasure ended, along with conflict and egotism.
ਚਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
chit har siu rātā hukam apārā .
My consciousness is attuned to the Lord, by the Order of the Infinite.
ਜਾਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਆਚਾਰਾ ॥
jāt rahē pat kē āchārā .
My pursuit for worldy pride and honour is over.
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਭਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਤਮ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
drisat bhaī sukh ātam dhārā .4.
When He blessed me with His Glance of Grace, peace was established in my soul. ||4||
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਦੇਖਉ ਮੀਤੁ ॥
tujh bin kōi n dēkhau mīt .
Without You, I see no friend at all.
ਕਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਉ ਕਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਉ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
kis sēvau kis dēvau chīt .
Whom should I serve? Unto whom should I dedicate my consciousness?
ਕਿਸੁ ਪੂਛਉ ਕਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥
kis pūshau kis lāgau pāi .
Whom should I ask? At whose feet should I fall?
ਕਿਸੁ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੫॥
kis upadēs rahā liv lāi .5.
By whose teachings will I remain absorbed in His Love? ||5||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੀ ਗੁਰ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥
gur sēvī gur lāgau pāi .
I serve the Guru, and I fall at the Guru's Feet.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਰਾਚਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
bhagat karī rāchau har nāi .
I worship Him, and I am absorbed in the Lord's Name.
ਸਿਖਿਆ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਭੋਜਨ ਭਾਉ ॥
sikhiā dīkhiā bhōjan bhāu .
The Lord's Love is my instruction, sermon and food.
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
hukam sanjōgī nij ghar jāu .6.
Enjoined to the Lord's Command, I have entered the home of my inner self. ||6||
ਗਰਬ ਗਤੰ ਸੁਖ ਆਤਮ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥
garab gatan sukh ātam dhiānā .
With the extinction of pride, my soul has found peace and meditation.
ਜੋਤਿ ਭਈ ਜੋਤੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
jōt bhaī jōtī māh samānā .
The Divine Light has dawned, and I am absorbed in the Light.
ਲਿਖਤੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਨਹੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਨਾ ॥
likhat mitai nahī sabad nīsānā .
Pre-ordained destiny cannot be erased; the Shabad is my banner and insignia.
ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੭॥
karatā karanā karatā jānā .7.
I know the Creator, the Creator of His Creation. ||7||
ਨਹ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਨਹ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਿਆਨਾ ॥
nah pandit nah chatur siānā .
I am not a learned Pandit, I am not clever or wise.
ਨਹ ਭੂਲੋ ਨਹ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਨਾ ॥
nah bhūlō nah bharam bhulānā .
I do not wander; I am not deluded by doubt.
ਕਥਉ ਨ ਕਥਨੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥
kathau n kathanī hukam pashānā .
I do not speak empty speech; I have recognized the Hukam of His Command.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥੮॥੧॥
nānak guramat sahaj samānā .8.1.
Nanak is absorbed in intuitive peace through the Guru's Teachings. ||8||1||

ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār satinām karatā purakh gur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. By Guru's Grace:
ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
nidh sidh niramal nām bīchār .
The nine treasures and the miraculous spiritual powers come by contemplating the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
pūran pūr rahiā bikh mār .
The Perfect Lord is All-pervading everywhere; He destroys the poison of Maya.
ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੀ ਬਿਮਲ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥
trikutī shūtī bimal majhār .
I am rid of the three-phased Maya, dwelling in the Pure Lord.
