ਸਾਧੋ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਉ ॥
sādhō man kā mān tiāgau .
: Holy Saadhus: forsake the pride of your mind.
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਕੀ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭਾਗਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kām krōdh sangat durajan kī tā tē ahinis bhāgau .1. rahāu .
Sexual desire, anger and the company of evil people - run away from them, day and night. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੋਨੋ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਅਉਰੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਅਪਮਾਨਾ ॥
sukh dukh dōnō sam kar jānai aur mān apamānā .
One who knows that pain and pleasure are both the same, and honor and dishonor as well,
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਤੇ ਰਹੈ ਅਤੀਤਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਗਿ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
harakh sōg tē rahai atītā tin jag tat pashānā .1.
who remains detached from joy and sorrow, realizes the true essence in the world. ||1||
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੋਊ ਤਿਆਗੈ ਖੋਜੈ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨਾ ॥
usatat nindā dōū tiāgai khōjai pad nirabānā .
Renounce both praise and blame; seek instead the state of Nirvaanaa.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਕਠਨੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੧॥
jan nānak ih khēl kathan hai kinahūn guramukh jānā .2.1.
O servant Nanak, this is such a difficult game; only a few Gurmukhs understand it! ||2||1||
