ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਕਛੁ ਸੂਝਸਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਹ ਪੈਖਰ ਪਏ ਪੈਰਾ ॥੨॥
bharam mōh kash sūjhas nāhī ih paikhar paē pairā .2.
In doubt and emotional attachment, this person understands nothing; with this leash, these feet are tied up. ||2||
ਤਬ ਇਹੁ ਕਹਾ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਪਰਿਆ ਜਬ ਇਹੁ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ॥
tab ih kahā kamāvan pariā jab ih kashū n hōtā .
What did this person do, when he did not exist?
ਜਬ ਏਕ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪਹਿ ਕਰਤਾ ॥੩॥
jab ēk niranjan nirankār prabh sabh kish āpah karatā .3.
When the Immaculate and Formless Lord God was all alone, He did everything by Himself. ||3||
ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥
apanē karatab āpē jānai jin ih rachan rachāiā .
He alone knows His actions; He created this creation.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੬੩॥
kah nānak karanahār hai āpē satigur bharam chukāiā .4.5.163.
Says Nanak, the Lord Himself is the Doer. The True Guru has dispelled my doubts. ||4||5||163||

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੋ ਸਮਝਾਵੈ ॥
mō kau ih bidh kō samajhāvai .
Who can help me understand my condition?
ਕਰਤਾ ਹੋਇ ਜਨਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karatā hōi janāvai .1. rahāu .
Only the Creator knows it. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਇਨਹਿ ਕਮਾਨੋ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
anajānat kish inah kamānō jap tap kashū n sādhā .
This person does things in ignorance; he does not chant in meditation, and does not perform any deep, self-disciplined meditation.
ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਲੈ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦਉਰਾਇਓ ਕਵਨ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ॥੧॥
dah dis lai ih man daurāiō kavan karam kar bādhā .1.
This mind wanders around in the ten directions - how can it be restrained? ||1||
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਉ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
man tan dhan bhūm kā thākur hau is kā ih mērā .
I am the lord, the master of my mind, body, wealth and lands. These are mine.
