Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਪਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਤੇ ॥
pau saranāī jin har jātē .
Seek the Sanctuary of those who have come to know the Lord.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਚਰਣ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥੧॥
man tan sītal charan har rātē .1.
Your mind and body shall become cool and peaceful, imbued with the Feet of the Lord. ||1||
ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਬਸਾਹੀ ॥
bhai bhanjan prabh man n basāhī .
If God, the Destroyer of fear, does not dwell within your mind,
ਡਰਪਤ ਡਰਪਤ ਜਨਮ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
darapat darapat janam bahut jāhī .1. rahāu .
you shall spend countless incarnations in fear and dread. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥
jā kai ridai basiō har nām .
Those who have the Lord's Name dwelling within their hearts
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੨॥
sagal manōrath tā kē pūran kām .2.
have all their desires and tasks fulfilled. ||2||
ਜਨਮੁ ਜਰਾ ਮਿਰਤੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਾਸਿ ॥
janam jarā mirat jis vās .
Birth, old age and death are in His Power,
ਸੋ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
sō samarath simar sās girās .3.
so remember that All-powerful Lord with each breath and morsel of food. ||3||
ਮੀਤੁ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਸਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕ ॥
mīt sājan sakhā prabh ēk .
The One God is my Intimate, Best Friend and Companion.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਟੇਕ ॥੪॥੮੭॥੧੫੬॥
nām suāmī kā nānak tēk .4.87.156.
The Naam, the Name of my Lord and Master, is Nanak's only Support. ||4||87||156||
