Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਜੋ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਲੋਗ ॥
vadē vadē jō dīsah lōg .
Those who seem to be great and powerful,
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰੋਗ ॥੧॥
tin kau biāpai chintā rōg .1.
are afflicted by the disease of anxiety. ||1||
ਕਉਨ ਵਡਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
kaun vadā māiā vadiāī .
Who is great by the greatness of Maya?
ਸੋ ਵਡਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sō vadā jin rām liv lāī .1. rahāu .
They alone are great, who are lovingly attached to the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਭੂਮੀਆ ਭੂਮਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਿਤ ਲੁਝੈ ॥
bhūmīā bhūm ūpar nit lujhai .
The landlord fights over his land each day.
ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਬੁਝੈ ॥੨॥
shōd chalai trisanā nahī bujhai .2.
He shall have to leave it in the end, and yet his desire is still not satisfied. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
kah nānak ih tat bīchārā .
Says Nanak, this is the essence of Truth:
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੪੪॥੧੧੩॥
bin har bhajan nāhī shutakārā .3.44.113.
without the Lord's meditation, there is no salvation. ||3||44||113||
