ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਠਾਢੇ ॥੧॥
gur pūrā pāiā vadabhāgī har mantr dīā man thādhē .1.
I have found the Perfect Guru, through great good fortune; He has given me the Mantra of the Lord's Name, and my mind has become quiet and tranquil. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਹਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਾਲੇ ਕਾਂਢੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rām ham satigur lālē kānhdhē .1. rahāu .
O Lord, I am the slave of the True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮਰੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਦਾਗੁ ਦਗਾਨਾ ਹਮ ਕਰਜ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਹੁ ਸਾਢੇ ॥
hamarai masatak dāg dagānā ham karaj gurū bah sādhē .
My forehead has been branded with His brand; I owe such a great debt to the Guru.
ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਭਉ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਢੇ ॥੨॥
paraupakār punn bah kīā bhau dutar tār parādhē .2.
He has been so generous and kind to me; He has carried me across the treacherous and terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੂਰੇ ਗਾਢਨ ਗਾਢੇ ॥
jin kau prīt ridai har nāhī tin kūrē gādhan gādhē .
Those who do not have love for the Lord within their hearts, harbor only false intentions and goals.
ਜਿਉ ਪਾਣੀ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਤ ਹੈ ਤਿਉ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਗਰਭਿ ਗਲਾਢੇ ॥੩॥
jiu pānī kāgad binas jāt hai tiu manamukh garabh galādhē .3.
As paper breaks down and dissolves in water, the self-willed manmukh wastes away in arrogant pride. ||3||
ਹਮ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਹ ਆਗੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਠਾਢੇ ॥
ham jāniā kashū n jānah āgai jiu har rākhai tiu thādhē .
I know nothing, and I do not know the future; as the Lord keeps me, so do I stand.
ਹਮ ਭੂਲ ਚੂਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਤਰੇ ਕਾਢੇ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੧॥੫੯॥
ham bhūl chūk gur kirapā dhārah jan nānak kutarē kādhē .4.7.21.59.
For my failings and mistakes, O Guru, grant me Your Grace; servant Nanak is Your obedient dog. ||4||7||21||59||

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਖਿਨੁ ਨ ਟਿਕੈ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ਦਹ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਚਲਿ ਚਲਿ ਹਾਢੇ ॥
ih manūā khin n tikai bah rangī dah dah dis chal chal hādhē .
This mind does not hold still, even for an instant. Distracted by all sorts of distractions, it wanders around aimlessly in the ten directions.
