Prabhaatee, Fourth Mehl:
ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਮ ਮੁਏ ਜੀਵੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਭਾ ॥
gur satigur nām drirāiō har har ham muē jīvē har japibhā .
The Guru, the True Guru, has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord within me. I was dead, but chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have been brought back to life.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਬਾਹ ਦੇਇ ਕਢਿਭਾ ॥੧॥
dhan dhann gurū gur satigur pūrā bikh dubadē bāh dēi kadhibhā .1.
Blessed, blessed is the Guru, the Guru, the Perfect True Guru; He reached out to me with His Arm, and pulled me up and out of the ocean of poison. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਧਾਂਭਾ ॥
jap man rām nām aradhānhbhā .
O mind, meditate and worship the Lord's Name.
ਉਪਜੰਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਤਹੂ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਾਭਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
upajanp upāi n pāīai katahū gur pūrai har prabh lābhā .1. rahāu .
God is never found, even by making all sorts of new efforts. The Lord God is obtained only through the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਸਭਾ ॥
rām nām ras rām rasāin ras pīā guramat rasabhā .
The Sublime Essence of the Lord's Name is the source of nectar and bliss; drinking in this Sublime Essence, following the Guru's Teachings, I have become happy.
ਲੋਹ ਮਨੂਰ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿਭਾ ॥੨॥
lōh manūr kanchan mil sangat har ur dhāriō gur haribhā .2.
Even iron slag is transformed into gold, joining the Lord's Congregation. Through the Guru, the Lord's Light is enshrined within the heart. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਲੋਭਿ ਲੁਭਾਨੇ ਪੁਤ ਕਲਤ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੁਭਿਭਾ ॥
haumai bikhiā nit lōbh lubhānē put kalat mōh lubhibhā .
Those who are continually lured by greed, egotism and corruption, who are lured away by emotional attachment to their children and spouse
ਤਿਨ ਪਗ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਤੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂੰਭਰ ਭਰਭਾ ॥੩॥
tin pag sant n sēvē kabahū tē manamukh bhūnbhar bharabhā .3.
- they never serve at the feet of the Saints; those self-willed manmukhs are filled with ashes. ||3||
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਗੁਨ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਹਮ ਪਰੇ ਹਾਰਿ ਤੁਮ ਸਰਨਭਾ ॥
tumarē gun tum hī prabh jānah ham parē hār tum saranabhā .
O God, You alone know Your Glorious Virtues; I have grown weary - I seek Your Sanctuary.
ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮਨਭਾ ॥੪॥੬॥
jiu jānah tiu rākhah suāmī jan nānak dās tumanabhā .4.6.
As You know best, You preserve and protect me, O my Lord and Master; servant Nanak is Your slave. ||4||6||
