ਕਲਿਆਨ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Kalyaan, Fourth Mehl:
ਰਾਮਾ ਰਮ ਰਾਮੋ ਪੂਜ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
rāmā ram rāmō pūj karījai .
I worship and adore the Lord, the All-pervading Lord.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਉ ਸਭੁ ਆਗੈ ਰਸੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man tan arap dharau sabh āgai ras guramat giān drirījai .1. rahāu .
I surrender my mind and body, and place everything before Him; following the Guru's Teachings, spiritual wisdom is implanted within me. ||1||Pause||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਖ ਤਰੋਵਰ ਨਿਤ ਚੁਨਿ ਚੁਨਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
braham nām gun sākh tarōvar nit chun chun pūj karījai .
God's Name is the tree, and His Glorious Virtues are the branches. Picking and gathering up the fruit, I worship Him.
ਆਤਮ ਦੇਉ ਦੇਉ ਹੈ ਆਤਮੁ ਰਸਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪੂਜ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੧॥
ātam dēu dēu hai ātam ras lāgai pūj karījai .1.
The soul is divine; divine is the soul. Worship Him with love. ||1||
ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਿਚਰਿ ਬਿਚਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥
bibēk budh sabh jag mah niramal bichar bichar ras pījai .
One of keen intellect and precise understanding is immaculate in all this world. In thoughtful consideration, he drinks in the sublime essence.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੨॥
gur parasād padārath pāiā satigur kau ih man dījai .2.
By Guru's Grace, the treasure is found; dedicate this mind to the True Guru. ||2||
ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਅਤਿ ਹੀਰੋ ਨੀਕੋ ਹੀਰੈ ਹੀਰੁ ਬਿਧੀਜੈ ॥
niramōlak at hīrō nīkō hīrai hīr bidhījai .
Priceless and utterly sublime is the Diamond of the Lord. This Diamond pierces the diamond of the mind.
ਮਨੁ ਮੋਤੀ ਸਾਲੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹੀਰਾ ਪਰਖਿ ਲਈਜੈ ॥੩॥
man mōtī sāl hai gur sabadī jit hīrā parakh laījai .3.
The mind becomes the jeweller, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad; it appraises the Diamond of the Lord. ||3||
ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਗਿ ਊਚੇ ਜਿਉ ਪੀਪ ਪਲਾਸ ਖਾਇ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
sangat sant sang lag ūchē jiu pīp palās khāi lījai .
Attaching oneself to the Society of the Saints, one is exalted and uplifted, as the palaas tree is absorbed by the peepal tree.
ਸਭ ਨਰ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਊਤਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸੀਜੈ ॥੪॥
sabh nar mah prānī ūtam hōvai rām nāmai bās basījai .4.
That mortal being is supreme among all people, who is perfumed by the fragrance of the Lord's Name. ||4||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਰਮ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਨੇ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਖਾ ਹਰੀ ਜੜੀਜੈ ॥
niramal niramal karam bah kīnē nit sākhā harī jarījai .
One who continually acts in goodness and immaculate purity, sprouts green branches in great abundance.
ਧਰਮੁ ਫੁਲੁ ਫਲੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਹਕਾਰ ਬਾਸੁ ਜਗਿ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੫॥
dharam phul phal gur giān drirāiā bahakār bās jag dījai .5.
The Guru has taught me that Dharmic faith is the flower, and spiritual wisdom is the fruit; this fragrance permeates the world. ||5||
ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਏਕੋ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਭ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਇਕੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
ēk jōt ēkō man vasiā sabh braham drisat ik kījai .
The One, the Light of the One, abides within my mind; God, the One, is seen in all.
ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਭ ਏਕੈ ਹੈ ਪਸਰੇ ਸਭ ਚਰਨ ਤਲੇ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੬॥
ātam rām sabh ēkai hai pasarē sabh charan talē sir dījai .6.
The One Lord, the Supreme Soul, is spread out everywhere; all place their heads beneath His Feet. ||6||
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਕਟੇ ਨਰ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਤਿਨ ਘਸਿ ਘਸਿ ਨਾਕ ਵਢੀਜੈ ॥
nām binā nakatē nar dēkhah tin ghas ghas nāk vadhījai .
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, people look like criminals with their noses cut off; bit by bit, their noses are cut off.
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵੀਜੈ ॥੭॥
sākat nar ahankārī kahīah bin nāvai dhrig jīvījai .7.
The faithless cynics are called egotistical; without the Name, their lives are cursed. ||7||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਸਾਸੁ ਸਾਸੁ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਤੁ ਬੇਗਲ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੀਜੈ ॥
jab lag sās sās man antar tat bēgal saran parījai .
As long as the breath breathes through the mind deep within, hurry and seek God's Sanctuary.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਮੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਨ ਪਖੀਜੈ ॥੮॥੪॥
nānak kripā kripā kar dhārah mai sādhū charan pakhījai .8.4.
Please shower Your Kind Mercy and take pity upon Nanak, that he may wash the feet of the Holy. ||8||4||
