ਕਲਿਆਨੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Kalyaan, Fourth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਹਸਿਆ ॥
har jan gun gāvat hasiā .
The humble servant of the Lord sings the Lord's Praise, and blossoms forth.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਨੀ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har bhagat banī mat guramat dhur masatak prabh likhiā .1. rahāu .
My intellect is embellished with devotion to the Lord, Har, Har, through the Guru's Teachings. This is the destiny which God has recorded on my forehead. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਗ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਿਆ ॥
gur kē pag simarau din rātī man har har har basiā .
I meditate in remembrance on the Guru's Feet, day and night. The Lord, Har, Har, Har, comes to dwell in my mind.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਜਗਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਘਸਿ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਜਸੁ ਘਸਿਆ ॥੧॥
har har har kīrat jag sārī ghas chandan jas ghasiā .1.
The Praise of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, is Excellent and Sublime in this world. His Praise is the sandalwood paste which I rub. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਖੋਜਿ ਪਇਆ ॥
har jan har har har liv lāī sabh sākat khōj paiā .
The humble servant of the Lord is lovingly attuned to the Lord, Har, Har, Har; all the faithless cynics pursue him.
ਜਿਉ ਕਿਰਤ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਪਗੁ ਨਾਗਨਿ ਛੁਹਿ ਜਲਿਆ ॥੨॥
jiu kirat sanjōg chaliō nar nindak pag nāgan shuh jaliā .2.
The slanderous person acts in accordance with the record of his past deeds; his foot trips over the snake, and he is stung by its bite. ||2||
ਜਨ ਕੇ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਜਨ ਰਖਿਆ ॥
jan kē tumh har rākhē suāmī tumh jug jug jan rakhiā .
O my Lord and Master, You are the Saving Grace, the Protector of Your humble servants. You protect them, age after age.
ਕਹਾ ਭਇਆ ਦੈਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਬਖੀਲੀ ਸਭ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਝਰਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
kahā bhaiā dait karī bakhīlī sabh kar kar jhar pariā .3.
What does it matter, if a demon speaks evil? By doing so, he only gets frustrated. ||3||
ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਏ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆ ॥
jētē jī jant prabh kīē sabh kālai mukh grasiā .
All the beings and creatures created by God are caught in the mouth of Death.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
har jan har har har prabh rākhē jan nānak saran paiā .4.2.
The humble servants of the Lord are protected by the Lord God, Har, Har, Har; servant Nanak seeks His Sanctuary. ||4||2||
