ਕਾਨੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Kaanraa, Fourth Mehl:
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥
jap man rām nām paragās .
O mind, chant the Name of the Lord, and be enlightened.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਨੀ ਵਿਚੇ ਗਿਰਹ ਉਦਾਸ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har kē sant mil prīt lagānī vichē girah udās .1. rahāu .
Meet with the Saints of the Lord, and focus your love; remain balanced and detached within your own household. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਸ ॥
ham har hiradai japiō nām narahar prabh kripā karī kirapās .
I chant the Name of the Lord, Nar-Har, within my heart; God the Merciful has shown His Mercy.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਆ ਉਦਮ ਭਏ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
anadin anad bhaiā man bigasiā udam bhaē milan kī ās .1.
Night and day, I am in ecstasy; my mind has blossomed forth, rejuvenated. I am trying - I hope to meet my Lord. ||1||
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਾਸ ਲੀਏ ਹਮ ਗ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
ham har suāmī prīt lagāī jitanē sās līē ham grās .
I am in love with the Lord, my Lord and Master; I love Him with every breath and morsel of food I take.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦਹਨ ਭਏ ਖਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੂਟਿ ਗਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਫਾਸ ॥੨॥
kilabikh dahan bhaē khin antar tūt gaē māiā kē phās .2.
My sins were burnt away in an instant; the noose of the bondage of Maya was loosened. ||2||
ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਕਿਰਮ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਰਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾਸ ॥
kiā ham kiram kiā karam kamāvah mūrakh mugadh rakhē prabh tās .
I am such a worm! What karma am I creating? What can I do? I am a fool, a total idiot, but God has saved me.
ਅਵਗਨੀਆਰੇ ਪਾਥਰ ਭਾਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਤਰੇ ਤਰਾਸ ॥੩॥
avaganīārē pāthar bhārē satasangat mil tarē tarās .3.
I am unworthy, heavy as stone, but joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I am carried across to the other side. ||3||
ਜੇਤੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਦੀਸਰਿ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਊਚ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਖਿਆਸ ॥
jētī srisat karī jagadīsar tē sabh ūch ham nīch bikhiās .
The Universe which God created is all above me; I am the lowest, engrossed in corruption.
ਹਮਰੇ ਅਵਗੁਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਟੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸ ॥੪॥੩॥
hamarē avagun sang gur mētē jan nānak mēl līē prabh pās .4.3.
With the Guru, my faults and demerits have been erased. Servant Nanak has been united with God Himself. ||4||3||
