ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Malaar, Third Mehl:
ਜੀਵਤ ਮੁਕਤ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
jīvat mukat guramatī lāgē .
Those who are attached to the Guru's Teachings, are Jivan-mukta, liberated while yet alive.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
har kī bhagat anadin sad jāgē .
They remain forever awake and aware night and day, in devotional worship of the Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
satigur sēvah āp gavāi .
They serve the True Guru, and eradicate their self-conceit.
ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਸਦ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
hau tin jan kē sad lāgau pāi .1.
I fall at the feet of such humble beings. ||1||
ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥
hau jīvānh sadā har kē gun gāī .
Constantly singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, I live.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur kā sabad mahā ras mīthā har kai nām mukat gat pāī .1. rahāu .
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is such totally sweet elixir. Through the Name of the Lord, I have attained the state of liberation. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥
māiā mōh agiān gubār .
Attachment to Maya leads to the darkness of ignorance.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੋਹੇ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
manamukh mōhē mugadh gavār .
The self-willed manukhs are attached, foolish and ignorant.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧੰਧਾ ਕਰਤ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
anadin dhandhā karat vihāi .
Night and day, their lives pass away in worldly entanglements.
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
mar mar janmah milai sajāi .2.
They die and die again and again, only to be reborn and receive their punishment. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
guramukh rām nām liv lāī .
The Gurmukh is lovingly attuned to the Name of the Lord.
ਕੂੜੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਨਾ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥
kūrai lālach nā lapatāī .
He does not cling to false greed.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
jō kish hōvai sahaj subhāi .
Whatever he does, he does with intuitive poise.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਇ ॥੩॥
har ras pīvai rasan rasāi .3.
He drinks in the sublime essence of the Lord; his tongue delights in its flavor. ||3||
ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
kōt madhē kisah bujhāī .
Among millions, hardly any understand.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
āpē bakhasē dē vadiāī .
The Lord Himself forgives, and bestows His glorious greatness.
ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
jō dhur miliā s vishur n jāī .
Whoever meets with the Primal Lord God, shall never be separated again.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥
nānak har har nām samāī .4.3.12.
Nanak is absorbed in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||3||12||
