ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār sat nām karatā purakh nirabhau niravair akāl mūrat ajūnī saibhan gur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. No Fear. No Hatred. Image Of The Undying. Beyond Birth. Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace:
ਖਾਣਾ ਪੀਣਾ ਹਸਣਾ ਸਉਣਾ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਹੈ ਮਰਣਾ ॥
khānā pīnā hasanā saunā visar gaiā hai maranā .
Eating, drinking, laughing and sleeping, the mortal forgets about dying.
ਖਸਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਖੁਆਰੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਨਹੀ ਰਹਣਾ ॥੧॥
khasam visār khuārī kīnī dhrig jīvan nahī rahanā .1.
Forgetting his Lord and Master, the mortal is ruined, and his life is cursed. He cannot remain forever. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ॥
prānī ēkō nām dhiāvah .
O mortal, meditate on the One Lord.
ਅਪਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
apanī pat sētī ghar jāvah .1. rahāu .
You shall go to your true home with honor. ||1 Pause||
ਤੁਧਨੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੁਝੁ ਕਿਆ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਮਾਂਗਹਿ ਲੇਵਹਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਹੀ ॥
tudhanō sēvah tujh kiā dēvah mānhgah lēvah rahah nahī .
Those who serve You - what can they give You? They beg for and receive what cannot remain.
ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਆ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਹੀ ॥੨॥
tū dātā jīā sabhanā kā jīā andar jīu tuhī .2.
You are the Great Giver of all souls; You are the Life within all living beings. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਸੂਚੇ ਹੋਹੀ ॥
guramukh dhiāvah s anmrit pāvah sēī sūchē hōhī .
The Gurmukhs meditate, and receive the Ambrosial Nectar; thus they become pure.
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਮੈਲੇ ਹਛੇ ਹੋਹੀ ॥੩॥
ahinis nām japah rē prānī mailē hashē hōhī .3.
Day and night, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O mortal. It makes the filthy immacuate. ||3||
ਜੇਹੀ ਰੁਤਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੇਹਾ ਤੇਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
jēhī rut kāiā sukh tēhā tēhō jēhī dēhī .
As is the season, so is the comfort of the body, and so is the body itself.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰੁਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਾਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਰੁਤਿ ਕੇਹੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
nānak rut suhāvī sāī bin nāvai rut kēhī .4.1.
O Nanak, that season is beautiful; without the Name, what season is it? ||4||1||
