ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਤਿਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
janam padārath guramukh jītiā bahur n jūai hār .1.
The Gurmukh is successful in this priceless human life; he shall not lose it in the gamble ever again. ||1||
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
āth pahar prabh kē gun gāvah pūran sabad bīchār .
Twenty-four hours a day, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and contemplate the Perfect Word of the Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਪੁਨਹ ਪੁਨਹ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੮੯॥੧੧੨॥
nānak dāsan dās jan tērā punah punah namasakār .2.89.112.
Servant Nanak is the slave of Your slaves; over and over again, he bows in humble reverence to You. ||2||89||112||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਕਾਟੀ ਕੁਟਿਲਤਾ ਕੁਠਾਰਿ ॥
har kātī kutilatā kuthār .
The Lord has cut down the crooked tree of my deceit.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਬਨ ਦਹਨ ਭਏ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhram ban dahan bhaē khin bhītar rām nām parahār .1. rahāu .
The forest of doubt is burnt away in an instant, by the fire of the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਰਹਰੀਆ ਕਾਢੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
kām krōdh nindā paraharīā kādhē sādhū kai sang mār .
Sexual desire, anger and slander are gone; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have beaten them and driven them out.
