Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਰੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਤੈ ਕਵਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੀਨ ॥
rē pāpī tai kavan kī mat līn .
O sinner, who taught you to sin?
ਨਿਮਖ ਘਰੀ ਨ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nimakh gharī n simar suāmī jīu pind jin dīn .1. rahāu .
You do not contemplate your Lord and Master, even for an instant; it was He who gave you your body and soul. ||1||Pause||
ਖਾਤ ਪੀਵਤ ਸਵੰਤ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਖੀਨ ॥
khāt pīvat savant sukhīā nām simarat khīn .
Eating, drinking and sleeping, you are happy, but contemplating the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you are miserable.
ਗਰਭ ਉਦਰ ਬਿਲਲਾਟ ਕਰਤਾ ਤਹਾਂ ਹੋਵਤ ਦੀਨ ॥੧॥
garabh udar bilalāt karatā tahānh hōvat dīn .1.
In the womb of your mother, you cried and whined like a wretch. ||1||
ਮਹਾ ਮਾਦ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਬਾਧਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੀਨ ॥
mahā mād bikār bādhā anik jōn bhramīn .
And now, bound by great pride and corruption, you shall wander in endless incarnations.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਕਵਨ ਦੁਖ ਗਨੀਅਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪਦ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ ॥੨॥੮੫॥੧੦੮॥
gōbind bisarē kavan dukh ganīah sukh nānak har pad chīnh .2.85.108.
You have forgotten the Lord of the Universe; what misery will be your lot now? O Nanak, peace is found by realizing the sublime state of the Lord. ||2||85||108||
