Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਿਮਰਨ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮ ॥
simaran rām kō ik nām .
Meditate in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the One Lord.
ਕਲਮਲ ਦਗਧ ਹੋਹਿ ਖਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਦਾਨ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kalamal dagadh hōh khin antar kōt dān isanān .1. rahāu .
In this way, the sins of your past mistakes shall be burnt off in an instant. It is like giving millions in charity, and bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage. ||1||Pause||
ਆਨ ਜੰਜਾਰ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਘਾਲਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਫੋਕਟ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
ān janjār brithā sram ghālat bin har phōkat giān .
Entangled in other affairs, the mortal suffers uselessly in sorrow. Without the Lord, wisdom is useless.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਸੰਕਟ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੈ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਭਜਨ ਸੁਖ ਧਿਆਨ ॥੧॥
janam maran sankat tē shūtai jagadīs bhajan sukh dhiān .1.
The mortal is freed of the anguish of death and birth, meditating and vibrating on the Blissful Lord of the Universe. ||1||
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨ ॥
tērī saran pūran sukh sāgar kar kirapā dēvah dān .
I seek Your Sancutary, O Perfect Lord, Ocean of Peace. Please be merciful, and bless me with this gift.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਵੈ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ॥੨॥੬੬॥੮੯॥
simar simar nānak prabh jīvai binas jāi abhimān .2.66.89.
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on God, Nanak lives; his egotistical pride has been eradicated. ||2||66||89||
