Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਹਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਰੇ ਖਾਟਿ ਖਾਟੁਲੀ ॥
kahā karah rē khāt khātulī .
Why are you working so hard to earn profits?
ਪਵਨਿ ਅਫਾਰ ਤੋਰ ਚਾਮਰੋ ਅਤਿ ਜਜਰੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਰੇ ਮਾਟੁਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pavan aphār tōr chāmarō at jajarī tērī rē mātulī .1. rahāu .
You are puffed up like a bag of air, and your skin is very brittle. Your body has grown old and dusty. ||1||Pause||
ਊਹੀ ਤੇ ਹਰਿਓ ਊਹਾ ਲੇ ਧਰਿਓ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਸਾ ਮਾਸ ਦੇਤ ਝਾਟੁਲੀ ॥
ūhī tē hariō ūhā lē dhariō jaisē bāsā mās dēt jhātulī .
You move things from here to there, like the hawk swooping down on the flesh of its prey.
ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਓ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਜਿਉ ਸਫਰੀ ਉਦਰੁ ਭਰੈ ਬਹਿ ਹਾਟੁਲੀ ॥੧॥
dēvanahār bisāriō andhulē jiu sapharī udar bharai bah hātulī .1.
You are blind - you have forgotten the Great Giver. You fill your belly like a traveller at an inn. ||1||
ਸਾਦ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਝੂਠ ਰਸ ਜਹ ਜਾਨੋ ਤਹ ਭੀਰ ਬਾਟੁਲੀ ॥
sād bikār bikār jhūth ras jah jānō tah bhīr bātulī .
You are entangled in the taste of false pleasures and corrupt sins; the path which you have to take is very narrow.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਮਝੁ ਰੇ ਇਆਨੇ ਆਜੁ ਕਾਲਿ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਾਂਠੁਲੀ ॥੨॥੩੮॥੬੧॥
kah nānak samajh rē iānē āj kāl khulhai tērī gānhthulī .2.38.61.
Says Nanak: figure it out, you ignorant fool! Today or tomorrow, the knot will be untied! ||2||38||61||
