ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਇਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
khōjat khōjat ihai bīchāriō sarab sukhā har nāmā .
Searching and searching, I have come to this realization: all peace and bliss are in the Name of the Lord.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਲੇਖੁ ਮਥਾਮਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
kah nānak tis bhaiō parāpat jā kai lēkh mathāmā .4.11.
Says Nanak, he alone receives it, upon whose forehead such destiny is inscribed. ||4||11||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਅਵਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
avar sabh bhūlē bhramat n jāniā .
All the others are deluded by doubt; they do not understand.
ਏਕੁ ਸੁਧਾਖਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਬੇਦਹਿ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ēk sudhākhar jā kai hiradai vasiā tin bēdah tat pashāniā .1. rahāu .
That person, within whose heart the One Pure Word abides, realizes the essence of the Vedas. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਜੇਤਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਈਐ ਤੇਤਾ ਲੋਗ ਪਚਾਰਾ ॥
paravirat mārag jētā kish hōīai tētā lōg pachārā .
He walks in the ways of the world, trying to please people.
ਜਉ ਲਉ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਉ ਲਉ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
jau lau ridai nahī paragāsā tau lau andh andhārā .1.
But as long as his heart is not enlightened, he is stuck in pitch black darkness. ||1||
ਜੈਸੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਾਧੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੀਜੈ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਂਮੈ ॥
jaisē dharatī sādhai bah bidh bin bījai nahī jānhmai .
The land may be prepared in every way, but nothing sprouts without being planted.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੈ ॥੨॥
rām nām bin mukat n hōī hai tutai nāhī abhimānai .2.
Just so, without the Lord's Name, no one is liberated, nor is egotistical pride eradicated. ||2||
ਨੀਰੁ ਬਿਲੋਵੈ ਅਤਿ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਨੈਨੂ ਕੈਸੇ ਰੀਸੈ ॥
nīr bilōvai at sram pāvai nainū kaisē rīsai .
The mortal may churn water until he is sore, but how can butter be produced?
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਮਿਲਤ ਨਹੀ ਜਗਦੀਸੈ ॥੩॥
bin gur bhētē mukat n kāhū milat nahī jagadīsai .3.
Without meeting the Guru, no one is liberated, and the Lord of the Universe is not met. ||3||
