ਹਣਵੰਤੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਧਰਿ ਲੰਕੂਰੁ ॥
hanavant jāgai dhar lankūr .
Hanuman with his tail is awake and aware.
ਸੰਕਰੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ॥
sankar jāgai charan sēv .
Shiva is awake, serving at the Lord's Feet.
ਕਲਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਨਾਮਾ ਜੈਦੇਵ ॥੨॥
kal jāgē nāmā jaidēv .2.
Naam Dayv and Jai Dayv are awake in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||2||
ਜਾਗਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ॥
jāgat sōvat bah prakār .
There are many ways of being awake, and sleeping.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਸੋਈ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
guramukh jāgai sōī sār .
To be awake as Gurmukh is the most excellent way.
ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਕੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਕਾਮ ॥
is dēhī kē adhik kām .
The most sublime of all the actions of this body,
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥੨॥
kah kabīr bhaj rām nām .3.2.
says Kabeer, is to meditate and vibrate on the Lord's Name. ||3||2||
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਜਨ ਮਾਤੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਿ ਪੁਰਾਨ ॥
pandit jan mātē parh purān .
The Pandits, the Hindu religious scholars, are intoxicated, reading the Puraanas.
ਜੋਗੀ ਮਾਤੇ ਜੋਗ ਧਿਆਨ ॥
jōgī mātē jōg dhiān .
The Yogis are intoxicated in Yoga and meditation.
ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਮਾਤੇ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ॥
sanniāsī mātē ahanmēv .
The Sannyaasees are intoxicated in egotism.
ਤਪਸੀ ਮਾਤੇ ਤਪ ਕੈ ਭੇਵ ॥੧॥
tapasī mātē tap kai bhēv .1.
The penitents are intoxicated with the mystery of penance. ||1||
ਸਭ ਮਦ ਮਾਤੇ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਜਾਗ ॥
sabh mad mātē kōū n jāg .
All are intoxicated with the wine of Maya; no one is awake and aware.
ਸੰਗ ਹੀ ਚੋਰ ਘਰੁ ਮੁਸਨ ਲਾਗ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sang hī chōr ghar musan lāg .1. rahāu .
The thieves are with them, plundering their homes. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾਗੈ ਸੁਕਦੇਉ ਅਰੁ ਅਕੂਰੁ ॥
jāgai sukadēu ar akūr .
Suk Dayv and Akrur are awake and aware.
