Bhairao, Fifth Mehl:
ਰੋਵਨਹਾਰੀ ਰੋਜੁ ਬਨਾਇਆ ॥
rōvanahārī rōj banāiā .
The whiner whines every day.
ਬਲਨ ਬਰਤਨ ਕਉ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
balan baratan kau sanabandh chit āiā .
His attachment to his household and entanglements cloud his mind.
ਬੂਝਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਕੋਇ ॥
būjh bairāg karē jē kōi .
If someone becomes detached through understanding,
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
janam maran phir sōg n hōi .1.
he will not have to suffer in birth and death again. ||1||
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਧੰਧੁ ਪਸਾਰੁ ॥
bikhiā kā sabh dhandh pasār .
All of his conflicts are extensions of his corruption.
ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕੀਨੋ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
viralai kīnō nām adhār .1. rahāu .
How rare is that person who takes the Naam as his Support. ||1||Pause||
ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਹੀ ਬਿਆਪਿ ॥
tribidh māiā rahī biāp .
The three-phased Maya infects all.
ਜੋ ਲਪਟਾਨੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੂਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
jō lapatānō tis dūkh santāp .
Whoever clings to it suffers pain and sorrow.
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
sukh nāhī bin nām dhiāē .
There is no peace without meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੨॥
nām nidhān badabhāgī pāē .2.
By great good fortune, the treasure of the Naam is received. ||2||
ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗੀ ਸਿਉ ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਰੀਝਾਵੈ ॥
svānhgī siu jō man rījhāvai .
One who loves the actor in his mind,
ਸ੍ਵਾਗਿ ਉਤਾਰਿਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੈ ॥
svāg utāriai phir pashutāvai .
later regrets it when the actor takes off his costume.
ਮੇਘ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਰਤਨਹਾਰ ॥
mēgh kī shāiā jaisē baratanahār .
The shade from a cloud is transitory,
ਤੈਸੋ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
taisō parapanch mōh bikār .3.
like the worldly paraphernalia of attachment and corruption. ||3||
ਏਕ ਵਸਤੁ ਜੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
ēk vasat jē pāvai kōi .
If someone is blessed with the singular substance,
ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜੁ ਤਾਹੀ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
pūran kāj tāhī kā hōi .
then all of his tasks are accomplished to perfection.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
gur prasād jin pāiā nām .
One who obtains the Naam, by Guru's Grace
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੩੩॥
nānak āiā sō paravān .4.20.33.
- O Nanak, his coming into the world is certified and approved. ||4||20||33||
