ਖਟੁ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਮੂਰਖੈ ਸੁਨਾਇਆ ॥
khat sāsatr mūrakhai sunāiā .
The six Shaastras may be read to a fool,
ਜੈਸੇ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਪਵਨੁ ਝੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
jaisē dah dis pavan jhulāiā .3.
but it is like the wind blowing in the ten directions. ||3||
ਬਿਨੁ ਕਣ ਖਲਹਾਨੁ ਜੈਸੇ ਗਾਹਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bin kan khalahān jaisē gāhan pāiā .
It is like threshing a crop without any corn - nothing is gained.
ਤਿਉ ਸਾਕਤ ਤੇ ਕੋ ਨ ਬਰਾਸਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
tiu sākat tē kō n barāsāiā .4.
In the same way, no benefit comes from the faithless cynic. ||4||
ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
tit hī lāgā jit kō lāiā .
As the Lord attaches them, so are all attached.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੫॥
kah nānak prabh banat banāiā .5.5.
Says Nanak, God has formed such a form. ||5||5||
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bhairau mahalā 5 .
Bhairao, Fifth Mehl:
ਜੇ ਸਉ ਲੋਚਿ ਲੋਚਿ ਖਾਵਾਇਆ ॥
jē sau lōch lōch khāvāiā .
Even though he may be fed with hundreds of longings and yearnings,
ਸਾਕਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
sākat har har chīt n āiā .1.
still the faithless cynic does not remember the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਤੇ ॥
sant janā kī lēh matē .
Take in the teachings of the humble Saints.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਪਰਮ ਗਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sādhasang pāvah param gatē .1. rahāu .
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall obtain the supreme status. ||1||Pause||
ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਪਵਾਇਆ ॥
pāthar kau bah nīr pavāiā .
Stones may be kept under water for a long time.
ਨਹ ਭੀਗੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੂਕਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
nah bhīgai adhik sūkāiā .2.
Even so, they do not absorb the water; they remain hard and dry. ||2||
