ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੨॥
nāmē nām milai vadiāī jis nō mann vasāē .2.
Through the Naam, glorious greatness is obtained; he alone obtains it, whose mind is filled with the Lord. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਤਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
satigur bhētai tā phal pāē sach karanī sukh sār .
Meeting the True Guru, the fruitful rewards are obtained. This true lifestyle beings sublime peace.
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਧਰਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੩॥
sē jan niramal jō har lāgē har nāmē dharah piār .3.
Those humble beings who are attached to the Lord are immaculate; they enshrine love for the Lord's Name. ||3||
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਾਈ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
tin kī rēn milai tānh masatak lāī jin satigur pūrā dhiāiā .
If I obtain the dust of their feet, I apply it to my forehead. They meditate on the Perfect True Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਨੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੩॥
nānak tin kī rēn pūrai bhāg pāīai jinī rām nām chit lāiā .4.3.13.
O Nanak, this dust is obtained only by perfect destiny. They focus their consciousness on the Lord's Name. ||4||3||13||

ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਦੁਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
dukh vich janmai dukh marai dukh vich kār kamāi .
In pain he is born, in pain he dies, and in pain he does his deeds.
ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
garabh jōnī vich kadē n nikalai bisatā māh samāi .1.
He is never released from the womb of reincarnation; he rots away in manure. ||1||
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
dhrig dhrig manamukh janam gavāiā .
Cursed, cursed is the self-willed manmukh, who wastes his life away.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pūrē gur kī sēv n kīnī har kā nām n bhāiā .1. rahāu .
He does not serve the Perfect Guru; he does not love the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ਗਵਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਲਾਏ ॥
gur kā sabad sabh rōg gavāē jis nō har jīu lāē .
The Word of the Guru's Shabad cures all diseases; he alone is attached to it, whom the Dear Lord attaches.
