ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
karam hōvai gur kirapā karai .
When the mortal has good karma, the Guru grants His Grace.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਰੈ ॥੪॥
ih man jāgai is man kī dubidhā marai .4.
Then this mind is awakened, and the duality of this mind is subdued. ||4||
ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
man kā subhāu sadā bairāgī .
It is the innate nature of the mind to remain forever detached.
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਸੈ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਅਨਰਾਗੀ ॥੫॥
sabh mah vasai atīt anarāgī .5.
The Detached, Dispassionate Lord dwells within all. ||5||
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਭੇਉ ॥
kahat nānak jō jānai bhēu .
Says Nanak, one who understands this mystery,
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਉ ॥੬॥੫॥
ād purakh niranjan dēu .6.5.
becomes the embodiment of the Primal, Immaculate, Divine Lord God. ||6||5||
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Bhairao, Third Mehl:
ਸੋ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
sō mun j man kī dubidhā mārē .
He alone is a silent sage, who subdues his mind's duality.
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
dubidhā mār braham bīchārē .1.
Subduing his duality, he contemplates God. ||1||
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
is man kau kōī khōjah bhāī .
Let each person examine his own mind, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਮਨੁ ਖੋਜਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man khōjat nām nau nidh pāī .1. rahāu .
Examine your mind, and you shall obtain the nine treasures of the Naam. ||1||Pause||
ਮੂਲੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
mūl mōh kar karatai jagat upāiā .
The Creator created the world, upon the foundation of worldly love and attachment.
ਮਮਤਾ ਲਾਇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੋੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
mamatā lāi bharam bhōlāiā .2.
Attaching it to possessiveness, He has led it into confusion with doubt. ||2||
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਪਿੰਡ ਪਰਾਣਾ ॥
is man tē sabh pind parānā .
From this Mind come all bodies, and the breath of life.
ਮਨ ਕੈ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੩॥
man kai vīchār hukam bujh samānā .3.
By mental contemplation, the mortal realizes the Hukam of the Lord's Command, and merges in Him. ||3||
