Kaydaaraa, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਰਥ ਜਾਤ ॥
har bin janam akārath jāt .
Without the Lord, life is useless.
ਤਜਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਆਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਚਤ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਪਹਿਰਤ ਖਾਤ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taj gōpāl ān rang rāchat mithiā pahirat khāt . rahāu .
Those who forsake the Lord, and become engrossed in other pleasures - false and useless are the clothes they wear, and the food they eat. ||Pause||
ਧਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਸੁਖ ਭੋੁਗਵੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਨਿਬਹਤ ਮਾਤ ॥
dhan jōban sanpai sukh bhōgavai sang n nibahat māt .
The pleasures of wealth, youth, property and comforts will not stay with you, O mother.
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਰਚਿਓ ਬਾਵਰ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਛਾਇਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤ ॥੧॥
mrig trisanā dēkh rachiō bāvar drum shāiā rang rāt .1.
Seeing the mirage, the madman is entangled in it; he is imbued with pleasures that pass away, like the shade of a tree. ||1||
ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਮਹਾ ਮਦ ਮੋਹਤ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੈ ਖਾਤ ॥
mān mōh mahā mad mōhat kām krōdh kai khāt .
Totally intoxicated with the wine of pride and attachment, he has fallen into the pit of sexual desire and anger.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਹੋਇ ਸਹਾਤ ॥੨॥੫॥੭॥
kar gah lēh dās nānak kau prabh jīu hōi sahāt .2.5.7.
O Dear God, please be the Help and Support of servant Nanak; please take me by the hand, and uplift me. ||2||5||7||
