Dakhanay, Fifth Mehl:
ਗਹਡੜੜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਣਿ ਛਾਇਆ ਗਾਫਲ ਜਲਿਓਹੁ ਭਾਹਿ ॥
gahadararā trin shāiā gāphal jaliōh bhāh .
He builds a hut of straw, and the fool lights a fire in it.
ਜਿਨਾ ਭਾਗ ਮਥਾਹੜੈ ਤਿਨ ਉਸਤਾਦ ਪਨਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
jinā bhāg mathāharai tin usatād panāh .1.
Only those who have such pre-ordained destiny on their foreheads, find Shelter with the Master. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੀਠਾ ਪਕਾ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਧਰਿਆ ਆਣਿ ਮਉਜੂਦੁ ॥
nānak pīthā pakā sājiā dhariā ān maujūd .
O Nanak, he grinds the corn, cooks it and places it before himself.
ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਝਾਕੁ ਦਰੂਦ ॥੨॥
bājhah satigur āpanē baithā jhāk darūd .2.
But without his True Guru, he sits and waits for his food to be blessed. ||2||

Fifth Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਭੁਸਰੀਆ ਪਕਾਈਆ ਪਾਈਆ ਥਾਲੈ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
nānak bhusarīā pakāīā pāīā thālai māh .
O Nanak, the loaves of bread are baked and placed on the plate.
ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਰਜਿ ਰਜਿ ਸੇਈ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
jinī gurū manāiā raj raj sēī khāh .3.
Those who obey their Guru, eat and are totally satisfied. ||3||

Pauree:
ਤੁਧੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
tudh jag mah khēl rachāiā vich haumai pāīā .
You have staged this play in the world, and infused egotism into all beings.
ਏਕੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਹਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆ ॥
ēk mandar panch chōr hah nit karah buriāīā .
In the one temple of the body are the five thieves, who continually misbehave.
ਦਸ ਨਾਰੀ ਇਕੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਸੇ ਸਾਦਿ ਲੋੁਭਾਈਆ ॥
das nārī ik purakh kar dasē sād lōbhāīā .
The ten brides, the sensory organs were created, and the one husband, the self; the ten are engrossed in flavors and tastes.
ਏਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਮੋਹੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਭਰਮਾਈਆ ॥
ēn māiā mōhanī mōhīā nit phirah bharamāīā .
This Maya fascinates and entices them; they wander continually in doubt.
ਹਾਠਾ ਦੋਵੈ ਕੀਤੀਓ ਸਿਵ ਸਕਤਿ ਵਰਤਾਈਆ ॥
hāthā dōvai kītīō siv sakat varatāīā .
You created both sides, spirit and matter, Shiva and Shakti.
ਸਿਵ ਅਗੈ ਸਕਤੀ ਹਾਰਿਆ ਏਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈਆ ॥
siv agai sakatī hāriā ēvai har bhāīā .
Matter loses out to spirit; this is pleasing to the Lord.
ਇਕਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਜੋ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ॥
ik vichah hī tudh rakhiā jō satasang milāīā .
You enshrined spirit within, which leads to merger with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
ਜਲ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਬਿੰਬੁ ਉਠਾਲਿਓ ਜਲ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਈਆ ॥੬॥
jal vichah binb uthāliō jal māh samāīā .6.
Within the bubble, You formed the bubble, which shall once again merge into the water. ||6||
