ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār satigur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
ahinis jāgai nīd n sōvai .
Day and night, he remains awake and aware; he never sleeps or dreams.
ਸੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਵੇਦਨ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
sō jānai jis vēdan hōvai .
He alone knows this, who feels the pain of separation from God.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੇ ਕਾਨ ਲਗੇ ਤਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਵੈਦੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
prēm kē kān lagē tan bhītar vaid k jānai kārī jīu .1.
My body is pierced through with the arrow of love. How can any physician know the cure? ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਿਫਤੀ ਲਾਏ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਿਸੈ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
jis nō sāchā siphatī lāē . guramukh viralē kisai bujhāē .
Rare is that one, who as Gurmukh, understands, and whom the True Lord links to His Praise.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anmrit kī sār sōī jānai j anmrit kā vāpārī jīu .1. rahāu .
He alone appreciates the value of the Ambsosial Nectar, who deals in this Ambrosia. ||1||Pause||
ਪਿਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਰਚਾਏ ॥
pir sētī dhan prēm rachāē .
The soul-bride is in love with her Husband Lord;
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਥਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
gur kai sabad tathā chit lāē .
the focuses her consciousness on the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਧਨ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
sahaj sētī dhan kharī suhēlī trisanā tikhā nivārī jīu .2.
The soul-bride is joyously embellished with intuitive ease; her hunger and thirst are taken away. ||2||
ਸਹਸਾ ਤੋੜੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥
sahasā tōrē bharam chukāē .
Tear down skepticism and dispel your doubt;
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਿਫਤੀ ਧਣਖੁ ਚੜਾਏ ॥
sahajē siphatī dhanakh charāē .
with your intuition, draw the bow of the Praise of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਜੋਗਾਧਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
gur kai sabad marai man mārē sundar jōgādhārī jīu .3.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, conquer and subdue your mind; take the support of Yoga - Union with the beautiful Lord. ||3||
ਹਉਮੈ ਜਲਿਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥
haumai jaliā manah visārē .
Burnt by egotism, one forgets the Lord from his mind.
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਵਜਹਿ ਖੜਗ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥
jam pur vajah kharag karārē .
In the City of Death, he is attacked with massive swords.
ਅਬ ਕੈ ਕਹਿਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਮਿਲਈ ਤੂ ਸਹੁ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
ab kai kahiai nām n milaī tū sah jīarē bhārī jīu .4.
Then, even if he asks for it, he will not receive the Lord's Name; O soul, you shall suffer terrible punishment. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਪਵਹਿ ਖਿਆਲੀ ॥
māiā mamatā pavah khiālī .
You are distracted by thoughts of Maya and worldly attachment.
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਫਾਸਹਿਗਾ ਜਮ ਜਾਲੀ ॥
jam pur phāsahigā jam jālī .
In the City of Death, you will be caught by the noose of the Messenger of Death.
ਹੇਤ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਹਿ ਤਾ ਜਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥
hēt kē bandhan tōr n sākah tā jam karē khuārī jīu .5.
You cannot break free from the bondage of loving attachment, and so the Messenger of Death will torture you. ||5||
ਨਾ ਹਉ ਕਰਤਾ ਨਾ ਮੈ ਕੀਆ ॥
nā hau karatā nā mai kīā .
I have done nothing; I am doing nothing now.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥
anmrit nām satigur dīā .
The True Guru has blessed me with the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam.
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਿਆ ਚਾਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥੧॥੧੨॥
jis tū dēh tisai kiā chārā nānak saran tumārī jīu .6.1.12.
What other efforts can anyone make, when You bestow Your blessing? Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||6||1||12||
