Nat, Fourth Mehl:
ਰਾਮ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਰਖਵਾਰੇ ॥
rām gur saran prabhū rakhavārē .
In the Sanctuary of the Guru, the Lord God saves and protects us,
ਜਿਉ ਕੁੰਚਰੁ ਤਦੂਐ ਪਕਰਿ ਚਲਾਇਓ ਕਰਿ ਊਪਰੁ ਕਢਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiu kunchar tadūai pakar chalāiō kar ūpar kadh nisatārē .1. rahāu .
as He protected the elephant, when the crocodile seized it and pulled it into the water; He lifted him up and pulled him out. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਤਿ ਨੀਕੇ ਮਨਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
prabh kē sēvak bahut at nīkē man saradhā kar har dhārē .
God's servants are sublime and exalted; they enshrine faith for Him in their minds.
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
mērē prabh saradhā bhagat man bhāvai jan kī paij savārē .1.
Faith and devotion are pleasing to my God's Mind; He saves the honor of His humble servants. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਭੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰੇ ॥
har har sēvak sēvā lāgai sabh dēkhai braham pasārē .
The servant of the Lord, Har, Har, is committed to His service; He sees God pervading the entire expanse of the universe.
ਏਕੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਇਕੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵੈ ਸਭ ਏਕਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
ēk purakh ik nadarī āvai sabh ēkā nadar nihārē .2.
He sees the One and only Primal Lord God, who blesses all with His Glance of Grace. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ਸਭੁ ਚੇਰੀ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਮਾਰੇ ॥
har prabh thākur raviā sabh thāī sabh chērī jagat samārē .
God, our Lord and Master, is permeating and pervading all places; He takes care of the whole world as His slave.
ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਦਇਆ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀਰੇ ਕਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
āp daiāl daiā dān dēvai vich pāthar kīrē kārē .3.
The Merciful Lord Himself mercifully gives His gifts, even to worms in stones. ||3||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਮੁਸਕਾਈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੂਲਾ ਮਿਰਗੁ ਸਿੰਙ੍ਹਾਰੇ ॥
antar vās bahut musakāī bhram bhūlā mirag sinnhārē .
Within the deer is the heavy fragrance of musk, but he is confused and deluded, and he shakes his horns looking for it.
ਬਨੁ ਬਨੁ ਢੂਢਿ ਢੂਢਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਘਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੪॥
ban ban dhūdh dhūdh phir thākī gur pūrai ghar nisatārē .4.
Wandering, rambling and roaming through the forests and woods, I exhausted myself, and then in my own home, the Perfect Guru saved me. ||4||
ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਰੇ ॥
bānī gurū gurū hai bānī vich bānī anmrit sārē .
The Word, the Bani is Guru, and Guru is the Bani. Within the Bani, the Ambrosial Nectar is contained.
ਗੁਰੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਹੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਪਰਤਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੫॥
gur bānī kahai sēvak jan mānai paratakh gurū nisatārē .5.
If His humble servant believes, and acts according to the Words of the Guru's Bani, then the Guru, in person, emancipates him. ||5||
ਸਭੁ ਹੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹੈ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਖਾਵਾਰੇ ॥
sabh hai braham braham hai pasariā man bījiā khāvārē .
All is God, and God is the whole expanse; man eats what he has planted.
ਜਿਉ ਜਨ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਹਾਂਸੁ ਦੁਖਿਆ ਧ੍ਰਿਸਟਬੁਧੀ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਘਰੁ ਲੂਕੀ ਜਾਰੇ ॥੬॥
jiu jan chandrahānhs dukhiā dhrisatabudhī apunā ghar lūkī jārē .6.
When Dhrishtabudhi tormented the humble devotee Chandrahaans, he only set his own house on fire. ||6||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਜਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਿਦ ਲੋਚੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਸ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
prabh kau jan antar rid lōchai prabh jan kē sās nihārē .
God's humble servant longs for Him within his heart; God watches over each breath of His humble servant.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਜਨ ਪੀਛੈ ਜਗੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
kripā kripā kar bhagat drirāē jan pīshai jag nisatārē .7.
Mercifully, mercifully, He implants devotion within his humble servant; for his sake, God saves the whole world. ||7||
ਆਪਨ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
āpan āp āp prabh thākur prabh āpē srisat savārē .
God, our Lord and Master, is Himself by Himself; God Himself embellishes the universe.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੮॥੪॥
jan nānak āpē āp sabh varatai kar kripā āp nisatārē .8.4.
O servant Nanak, He Himself is all-pervading; in His Mercy, He Himself emancipates all. ||8||4||
