ਜਬ ਉਸ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
jab us kau kōī dēvai mān .
When someone tries to appease her,
ਤਬ ਆਪਸ ਊਪਰਿ ਰਖੈ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
tab āpas ūpar rakhai gumān .
then she takes pride in herself.
ਜਬ ਉਸ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥
jab us kau kōī man paraharai .
But when someone puts her out of his thoughts,
ਤਬ ਓਹ ਸੇਵਕਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥
tab ōh sēvak sēvā karai .2.
then she serves him like a slave. ||2||
ਮੁਖਿ ਬੇਰਾਵੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਠਗਾਵੈ ॥
mukh bērāvai ant thagāvai .
She seems to please, but in the end, she deceives.
ਇਕਤੁ ਠਉਰ ਓਹ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
ikat thaur ōh kahī n samāvai .
She does not remain in any one place.
ਉਨਿ ਮੋਹੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ॥
un mōhē bahutē brahamand .
She has bewitched a great many worlds.
ਰਾਮ ਜਨੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ॥੩॥
rām janī kīnī khand khand .3.
The Lord's humble servants cut her apart into pieces. ||3||
ਜੋ ਮਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਭੂਖਾ ਰਹੈ ॥
jō māgai sō bhūkhā rahai .
Whoever begs from her remains hungry.
ਇਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਚੈ ਸੁ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਲਹੈ ॥
is sang rāchai s kashū n lahai .
Whoever is infatuated with her obtains nothing.
ਇਸਹਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥
isah tiāg satasangat karai .
But one who renounces her, and joins the Society of the Saints,
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੨੯॥
vadabhāgī nānak ōh tarai .4.18.29.
by great good fortune, O Nanak, is saved. ||4||18||29||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
rāmakalī mahalā 5 .
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
ਗਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਪਕਰੀ ਨ ਆਈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
gah kar pakarī n āī hāth .
No matter how hard you try to grab it, it does not come into your hands.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਚਾਲੀ ਨਹੀ ਸਾਥਿ ॥
prīt karī chālī nahī sāth .
No matter how much you may love it, it does not go along with you.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਉ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਦਈ ॥
kah nānak jau tiāg daī .
Says Nanak, when you abandon it,
ਤਬ ਓਹ ਚਰਣੀ ਆਇ ਪਈ ॥੧॥
tab ōh charanī āi paī .1.
then it comes and falls at your feet. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
sun santah niramal bīchār .
Listen, O Saints: this is the pure philosophy.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਈ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rām nām bin gat nahī kāī gur pūrā bhētat udhār .1. rahāu .
Without the Lord's Name, there is no salvation. Meeting with the Perfect Guru, one is saved. ||1||Pause||
