Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਾਹੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
kāhū sang n chālahī māiā janjāl .
The entanglements of Maya do not go along with anyone.
ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਖਿਆਲ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ūth sidhārē shatrapat santan kai khiāl . rahāu .
Even kings and rulers must arise and depart, according to the wisdom of the Saints. ||Pause||
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਉ ਬਿਨਸਨਾ ਇਹ ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਢਾਲ ॥
ahanbudh kau binasanā ih dhur kī dhāl .
Pride goes before the fall - this is a primal law.
ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥੧॥
bah jōnī janamah marah bikhiā bikarāl .1.
Those who practice corruption and sin, are born into countless incarnations, only to die again. ||1||
ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਕਹਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਜਪਹਿ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥
sat bachan sādhū kahah nit japah gupāl .
The Holy Saints chant Words of Truth; they meditate continually on the Lord of the Universe.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਲਾਲ ॥੨॥੧੧॥੨੯॥
simar simar nānak tarē har kē rang lāl .2.11.29.
Meditating, meditating in remembrance, O Nanak, those who are imbued with the color of the Lord's Love are carried across. ||2||11||29||
