ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਲਾਇ ॥
satigur sēvē āpanā sō sir lēkhai lāi .
Those who serve their True Guru are certified and accepted.
ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਕੈ ਰਹਨਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
vichah āp gavāi kai rahan sach liv lāi .
They eradicate selfishness and conceit from within; they remain lovingly absorbed in the True One.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਤਿਨਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
satigur jinī n sēviō tinā birathā janam gavāi .
Those who do not serve the True Guru waste away their lives in vain.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
nānak jō tis bhāvai sō karē kahanā kishū n jāi .1.
O Nanak, the Lord does just as He pleases. No one has any say in this. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਮਨੁ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ਵੇੜਿਆ ਵੇਕਾਰਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
man vēkārī vēriā vēkārā karam kamāi .
With the mind encircled by wickedness and evil, people do evil deeds.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
dūjai bhāi agiānī pūjadē daragah milai sajāi .
The ignorant worship the love of duality; in the Lord's Court they shall be punished.
ਆਤਮ ਦੇਉ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
ātam dēu pūjīai bin satigur būjh n pāi .
So worship the Lord, the Light of the soul; without the True Guru, understanding is not obtained.
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
jap tap sanjam bhānā satigurū kā karamī palai pāi .
Meditation, penance and austere self-discipline are found by surrendering to the True Guru's Will. By His Grace this is received.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
nānak sēvā surat kamāvanī jō har bhāvai sō thāi pāi .2.
O Nanak, serve with this intuitive awareness; only that which is pleasing to the Lord is approved. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
har har nām japah man mērē jit sadā sukh hōvai din rātī .
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind; it will bring you eternal peace, day and night.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਾਤੀ ॥
har har nām japah man mērē jit simarat sabh kilavikh pāp lahātī .
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind; meditating on it, all sins and misdeeds shall be erased.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥
har har nām japah man mērē jit dālad dukh bhukh sabh lah jātī .
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind; through it, all poverty, pain and hunger shall be removed.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਤੀ ॥
har har nām japah man mērē mukh guramukh prīt lagātī .
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind; as Gurmukh, declare your love.
ਜਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਤੀ ॥੧੩॥
jit mukh bhāg likhiā dhur sāchai har tit mukh nām japātī .13.
One who has such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead by the True Lord, chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||13||
