ਕਹਉ ਕਹਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਅਧਮਾਈ ॥
kahau kahā apanī adhamāī .
What can I say about my base nature?
ਉਰਝਿਓ ਕਨਕ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਨਹ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
urajhiō kanak kāmanī kē ras nah kīrat prabh gāī .1. rahāu .
I am entangled in the love of gold and women, and I have not sung the Kirtan of God's Praises. ||1||Pause||
ਜਗ ਝੂਠੇ ਕਉ ਸਾਚੁ ਜਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚ ਉਪਜਾਈ ॥
jag jhūthē kau sāch jān kai tā siu ruch upajāī .
I judge the false world to be true, and I have fallen in love with it.
ਦੀਨ ਬੰਧ ਸਿਮਰਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਕਬਹੂ ਹੋਤ ਜੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥
dīn bandh simariō nahī kabahū hōt j sang sahāī .1.
I have never contemplated the friend of the poor, who shall be my companion and helper in the end. ||1||
ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿਓ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨਿ ਛੁਟੀ ਨ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਕਾਈ ॥
magan rahiō māiā mai nis din shutī n man kī kāī .
I remain intoxicated by Maya, night and day, and the filth of my mind will not depart.
ਕਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਬ ਨਾਹਿ ਅਨਤ ਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥੨॥੧॥੩੧॥
kah nānak ab nāh anat gat bin har kī saranāī .2.1.31.
Says Nanak, now, without the Lord's Sanctuary, I cannot find salvation in any other way. ||2||1||31||
