rām simar rām simar rām simar bhāī .
Remember the Lord, remember the Lord, remember the Lord in meditation, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਡਤੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rām nām simaran bin būdatē adhikāī .1. rahāu .
Without remembering the Lord's Name in meditation, a great many are drowned. ||1||Pause||
ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਦੇਹ ਗ੍ਰੇਹ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
banitā sut dēh grēh sanpat sukhadāī .
Your spouse, children, body, house and possessions - you think these will give you peace.
ਇਨ੍ਹ ਮੈ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਤੇਰੋ ਕਾਲ ਅਵਧ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
inh mai kash nāh tērō kāl avadh āī .1.
But none of these shall be yours, when the time of death comes. ||1||
ਅਜਾਮਲ ਗਜ ਗਨਿਕਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
ajāmal gaj ganikā patit karam kīnē .
Ajaamal, the elephant, and the prostitute committed many sins,
ਤੇਊ ਉਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲੀਨੇ ॥੨॥
tēū utar pār parē rām nām līnē .2.
but still, they crossed over the world-ocean, by chanting the Lord's Name. ||2||
ਸੂਕਰ ਕੂਕਰ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਤਊ ਲਾਜ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
sūkar kūkar jōn bhramē taū lāj n āī .
You have wandered in reincarnation, as pigs and dogs - did you feel no shame?
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਛਾਡਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਈ ॥੩॥
rām nām shād anmrit kāhē bikh khāī .3.
Forsaking the Ambrosial Name of the Lord, why do you eat poison? ||3||
ਤਜਿ ਭਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਿਖੇਧ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਹੀ ॥
taj bharam karam bidh nikhēdh rām nām lēhī .
Abandon your doubts about do's and dont's, and take to the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਨ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਸਨੇਹੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
gur prasād jan kabīr rām kar sanēhī .4.5.
