ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਪਰ ਹਰਨਾ ਲੋਭੁ ਝੂਠ ਨਿੰਦ ਇਵ ਹੀ ਕਰਤ ਗੁਦਾਰੀ ॥
par haranā lōbh jhūth nind iv hī karat gudārī .
Stealing the property of others, acting in greed, lying and slandering - in these ways, he passes his life.
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਆਸ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੀਠੀ ਇਹ ਟੇਕ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਾਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
mrig trisanā ās mithiā mīthī ih tēk manah sādhārī .1.
He places his hopes in false mirages, believing them to be sweet; this is the support he installs in his mind. ||1||
ਸਾਕਤ ਕੀ ਆਵਰਦਾ ਜਾਇ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾਰੀ ॥
sākat kī āvaradā jāi brithārī .
The faithless cynic passes his life uselessly.
ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਗਦ ਕੇ ਭਾਰ ਮੂਸਾ ਟੂਕਿ ਗਵਾਵਤ ਕਾਮਿ ਨਹੀ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaisē kāgad kē bhār mūsā tūk gavāvat kām nahī gāvārī . rahāu .
He is like the mouse, gnawing away at the pile of paper, making it useless to the poor wretch. ||Pause||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਇਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੁਟਕਾਰੀ ॥
kar kirapā pārabraham suāmī ih bandhan shutakārī .
Have mercy on me, O Supreme Lord God, and release me from these bonds.
ਬੂਡਤ ਅੰਧ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਢਤ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਸੰਗਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੧੧॥੪੨॥
būdat andh nānak prabh kādhat sādh janā sangārī .2.11.42.
The blind are sinking, O Nanak; God saves them, uniting them with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||11||42||
