ਜਿਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਅਗਨੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
jin man rākhiā aganī pāi .
He preserved the mind in the fire of the womb;
ਵਾਜੈ ਪਵਣੁ ਆਖੈ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
vājai pavan ākhai sabh jāi .2.
at His Command, the wind blows everywhere. ||2||
ਜੇਤਾ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਸੁਆਦ ॥
jētā mōh parīt suād .
These worldly attachments, loves and pleasurable tastes,
ਸਭਾ ਕਾਲਖ ਦਾਗਾ ਦਾਗ ॥
sabhā kālakh dāgā dāg .
all are just black stains.
ਦਾਗ ਦੋਸ ਮੁਹਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਲਾਇ ॥
dāg dōs muh chaliā lāi .
One who departs, with these black stains of sin on his face
ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
daragah baisan nāhī jāi .3.
shall find no place to sit in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਆਖਣੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
karam milai ākhan tērā nāu .
By Your Grace, we chant Your Name.
ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਤਰਣਾ ਹੋਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
jit lag taranā hōr nahī thāu .
Becoming attached to it, one is saved; there is no other way.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਡੂਬੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਰ ॥
jē kō dūbai phir hōvai sār .
Even if one is drowning, still, he may be saved.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਰਬ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥੪॥੩॥੫॥
nānak sāchā sarab dātār .4.3.5.
O Nanak, the True Lord is the Giver of all. ||4||3||5||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
dhanāsarī mahalā 1 .
Dhanaasaree, First Mehl:
ਜੀਉ ਤਪਤੁ ਹੈ ਬਾਰੋ ਬਾਰ ॥
jīu tapat hai bārō bār .
My soul burns, over and over again.
ਤਪਿ ਤਪਿ ਖਪੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬੇਕਾਰ ॥
tap tap khapai bahut bēkār .
Burning and burning, it is ruined, and it falls into evil.
ਜੈ ਤਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
jai tan bānī visar jāi .
That body, which forgets the Word of the Guru's Bani,
ਜਿਉ ਪਕਾ ਰੋਗੀ ਵਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
jiu pakā rōgī vilalāi .1.
cries out in pain, like a chronic patient. ||1||
ਬਹੁਤਾ ਬੋਲਣੁ ਝਖਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
bahutā bōlan jhakhan hōi .
To speak too much and babble is useless.
ਵਿਣੁ ਬੋਲੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vin bōlē jānai sabh sōi .1. rahāu .
Even without our speaking, He knows everything. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨਿ ਕਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਖੀ ਨਾਕੁ ॥
jin kan kītē akhī nāk .
He created our ears, eyes and nose.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਦਿਤੀ ਬੋਲੇ ਤਾਤੁ ॥
jin jihavā ditī bōlē tāt .
He gave us our tongue to speak so fluently.
