Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਮਿਤੁ ॥
har dāsan siu prīt hai har dāsan kō mit .
The Lord loves His slaves; the Lord is the friend of His slaves.
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਉ ਜੰਤੀ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਜੰਤੁ ॥
har dāsan kai vas hai jiu jantī kai vas jant .
The Lord is under the control of His slaves, like the musical instrument under the control of the musician.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
har kē dās har dhiāidē kar prītam siu nēh .
The Lord's slaves meditate on the Lord; they love their Beloved.
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਸੈ ਮੇਹੁ ॥
kirapā kar kai sunah prabh sabh jag mah varasai mēh .
Please, hear me, O God - let Your Grace rain over the whole world.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
jō har dāsan kī usatat hai sā har kī vadiāī .
The praise of the Lord's slaves is the Glory of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭਾਵਦੀ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ਕਰਾਈ ॥
har āpanī vadiāī bhāvadī jan kā jaikār karāī .
The Lord loves His Own Glory, and so His humble servant is celebrated and hailed.
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥
sō har jan nām dhiāidā har har jan ik samān .
That humble servant of the Lord meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Lord, and the Lord's humble servant, are one and the same.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਹੁ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੧॥
jan nānak har kā dās hai har paij rakhah bhagavān .1.
Servant Nanak is the slave of the Lord; O Lord, O God, please, preserve his honor. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
nānak prīt lāī tin sāchai tis bin rahan n jāī .
Nanak loves the True Lord; without Him, he cannot even survive.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ॥੨॥
satigur milai t pūrā pāīai har ras rasan rasāī .2.
Meeting the True Guru, one finds the Perfect Lord, and the tongue enjoys the sublime essence of the Lord. ||2||

Pauree:
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਪਰਭਾਤਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਹੀ ਗਾਵਣਾ ॥
rain dinas parabhāt tūhai hī gāvanā .
Night and day, morning and night, I sing to You, Lord.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਰਬਤ ਨਾਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਧਿਆਵਣਾ ॥
jī jant sarabat nāu tērā dhiāvanā .
All beings and creatures meditate on Your Name.
ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਖਾਵਣਾ ॥
tū dātā dātār tērā ditā khāvanā .
You are the Giver, the Great Giver; we eat whatever You give us.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਪ ਗਵਾਵਣਾ ॥
bhagat janā kai sang pāp gavāvanā .
In the congregation of the devotees, sins are eradicated.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਣਾ ॥੨੫॥
jan nānak sad balihārai bal bal jāvanā .25.
Servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, O Lord. ||25||
