ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥

Sorat'h, Ninth Mehl:
ਰੇ ਨਰ ਇਹ ਸਾਚੀ ਜੀਅ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
rē nar ih sāchī jī dhār .
O man, grasp this Truth firmly in your soul.
ਸਗਲ ਜਗਤੁ ਹੈ ਜੈਸੇ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਲਗਤ ਨ ਬਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal jagat hai jaisē supanā binasat lagat n bār .1. rahāu .
The whole world is just like a dream; it will pass away in an instant. ||1||Pause||
ਬਾਰੂ ਭੀਤਿ ਬਨਾਈ ਰਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਰਹਤ ਨਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ॥
bārū bhīt banāī rach pach rahat nahī din chār .
Like a wall of sand, built up and plastered with great care, which does not last even a few days,
ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਉਰਝਿਓ ਕਹਾ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੧॥
taisē hī ih sukh māiā kē urajhiō kahā gavār .1.
just so are the pleasures of Maya. Why are you entangled in them, you ignorant fool? ||1||
ਅਜਹੂ ਸਮਝਿ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ਨਾਹਿਨਿ ਭਜਿ ਲੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
ajahū samajh kash bigariō nāhin bhaj lē nām murār .
Understand this today - it is not yet too late! Chant and vibrate the Name of the Lord.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਜ ਮਤੁ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਉ ਭਾਖਿਓ ਤੋਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੮॥
kah nānak nij mat sādhan kau bhākhiō tōh pukār .2.8.
Says Nanak, this is the subtle wisdom of the Holy Saints, which I proclaim out loud to you. ||2||8||
