Sorat'h, Ninth Mehl:
ਮਾਈ ਮੈ ਕਿਹਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਲਖਉ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
māī mai kih bidh lakhau gusāī .
O mother, how can I see the Lord of the world?
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹ ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਤਿਮਰਿ ਮੋ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਉਰਝਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mahā mōh agiān timar mō man rahiō urajhāī .1. rahāu .
In the utter darkness of emotional attachment and spiritual ignorance, my mind remains entangled. ||1||Pause||
ਸਗਲ ਜਨਮ ਭਰਮ ਹੀ ਭਰਮ ਖੋਇਓ ਨਹ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
sagal janam bharam hī bharam khōiō nah asathir mat pāī .
Deluded by doubt, I have wasted my whole life; I have not obtained a stable intellect.
ਬਿਖਿਆਸਕਤ ਰਹਿਓ ਨਿਸ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਨਹ ਛੂਟੀ ਅਧਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
bikhiāsakat rahiō nis bāsur nah shūtī adhamāī .1.
I remain under the influence of corrupting sins, night and day, and I have not renounced wickedness. ||1||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਕਬਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਨਾ ਨਹ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਾਈ ॥
sādhasang kabahū nahī kīnā nah kīrat prabh gāī .
I never joined the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and I did not sing the Kirtan of God's Praises.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਊ ਗੁਨੁ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥੨॥੬॥
jan nānak mai nāh kōū gun rākh lēh saranāī .2.6.
O servant Nanak, I have no virtues at all; keep me in Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||2||6||
