Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਜੇਤਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
satigur nō sabh kō vēkhadā jētā jagat sansār .
All the living beings of the world behold the True Guru.
ਡਿਠੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
dithai mukat n hōvaī jichar sabad n karē vīchār .
One is not liberated by merely seeing Him, unless one contemplates the Word of His Shabad.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
haumai mail n chukaī nām n lagai piār .
The filth of ego is not removed, and he does not enshrine love for the Naam.
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
ik āpē bakhas milāian dubidhā taj vikār .
The Lord forgives some, and unites them with Himself; they forsake their duality and sinful ways.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥
nānak ik darasan dēkh mar milē satigur hēt piār .1.
O Nanak, some behold the Blessed Vision of the True Guru's Darshan, with love and affection; conquering their ego, they meet with the Lord. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰਿ ॥
satigurū n sēviō mūrakh andh gavār .
The foolish, blind clown does not serve the True Guru.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਲਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥
dūjai bhāi bahut dukh lāgā jalatā karē pukār .
In love with duality, he endures terrible suffering, and burning, he cries out in pain.
ਜਿਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਨ ਉਪਕਰੇ ਅੰਤੀ ਵਾਰ ॥
jin kāran gurū visāriā sē n upakarē antī vār .
He forgets the Guru, for the sake of mere objects, but they will not come to his rescue in the end.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਖਸੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
nānak guramatī sukh pāiā bakhasē bakhasanahār .2.
Through the Guru's Instructions, Nanak has found peace; the Forgiving Lord has forgiven him. ||2||

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਵਰੋ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
tū āpē āp āp sabh karatā kōī dūjā hōi s avarō kahīai .
You Yourself, all by Yourself, are the Creator of all. If there were any other, then I would speak of another.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲੈ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
har āpē bōlai āp bulāvai har āpē jal thal rav rahīai .
The Lord Himself speaks, and causes us to speak; He Himself is pervading the water and the land.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਛੋਡੈ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ਪੜਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
har āpē mārai har āpē shōdai man har saranī par rahīai .
The Lord Himself destroys, and the Lord Himself saves. O mind, seek and remain in the Lord's Sanctuary.
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਮਨ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਚਿੰਦ ਨਿਸਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
har bin kōī mār jīvāl n sakai man hōi nichind nisal hōi rahīai .
Other than the Lord, no one can kill or rejuvenate. O mind, do not be anxious - remain fearless.
ਉਠਦਿਆ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੨੧॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ
uthadiā bahadiā sutiā sadā sadā har nām dhiāīai jan nānak guramukh har lahīai .21.1. sudh
While standing, sitting, and sleeping, forever and ever, meditate on the Lord's Name; O servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, you shall attain the Lord. ||21||1||Sudh||
