ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
sabadai sād n āiō nām n lagō piār .
One who does not savor the taste of the Shabad, who does not love the Naam, the Name of the Lord,
ਰਸਨਾ ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
rasanā phikā bōlanā nit nit hōi khuār .
and who speaks insipid words with his tongue, is ruined, again and again.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਪਇਐ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
nānak kirat paiai kamāvanā kōi n mētanahār .2.
O Nanak, he acts according to the karma of his past actions, which no one can erase. ||2||

ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ॥
dhan dhan sat purakh satigurū hamārā jit miliai ham kau sānht āī .
Blessed, blessed is the True Being, my True Guru; meeting Him, I have found peace.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
dhan dhan sat purakh satigurū hamārā jit miliai ham har bhagat pāī .
Blessed, blessed is the True Being, my True Guru; meeting Him, I have attained the Lord's devotional worship.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
dhan dhan har bhagat satigurū hamārā jis kī sēvā tē ham har nām liv lāī .
Blessed, blessed is the Lord's devotee, my True Guru; serving Him, I have come to enshrine love for the Name of the Lord.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸਭ ਸਮ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥
dhan dhan har giānī satigurū hamārā jin vairī mitr ham kau sabh sam drisat dikhāī .
Blessed, blessed is the Knower of the Lord, my True Guru; He has taught me to look upon friend and foe alike.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੧੯॥
dhan dhan satigurū mitr hamārā jin har nām siu hamārī prīt banāī .19.
Blessed, blessed is the True Guru, my best friend; He has led me to embrace love for the Name of the Lord. ||19||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਭ ਥਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
manahath kinai n pāiō sabh thakē karam kamāi .
No one has ever found the Lord through stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of performing such actions.
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਿ ਭਰਮਦੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
manahath bhēkh kar bharamadē dukh pāiā dūjai bhāi .
Through their stubborn-mindedness, and by wearing their disguises, they are deluded; they suffer in pain from the love of duality.
ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਸਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
ridh sidh sabh mōh hai nām n vasai man āi .
Riches and the supernatural spiritual powers of the Siddhas are all emotional attachments; through them, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, does not come to dwell in the mind.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
gur sēvā tē man niramal hōvai agiān andhērā jāi .
Serving the Guru, the mind becomes immaculately pure, and the darkness of spiritual ignorance is dispelled.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਘਰਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
nām ratan ghar paragat hōā nānak sahaj samāi .1.
The jewel of the Naam is revealed in the home of one's own being; O Nanak, one merges in celestial bliss. ||1||
