ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧ ਨ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਬਿਨਾਸਿ ॥
manamukh andh n chētanī janam mar hōh binās .
The blind, self-willed manmukhs do not think of the Lord; they are ruined through birth and death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜਿਨ ਕੰਉ ਧੁਰਿ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸਿ ॥੨॥
nānak guramukh tinī nām dhiāiā jin kanu dhur pūrab likhiās .2.
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; this is their destiny, pre-ordained by the Primal Lord God. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਛਤੀਹ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਜਿਤੁ ਖਾਇਐ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਭਈ ॥
har nām hamārā bhōjan shatīh parakār jit khāiai ham kau tripat bhaī .
The Lord's Name is my food; eating the thirty-six varieties of it, I am satisfied and satiated.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਨੰਗੇ ਨ ਹੋਵਹ ਹੋਰ ਪੈਨਣ ਕੀ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸਰਧ ਗਈ ॥
har nām hamārā painan jit phir nangē n hōvah hōr painan kī hamārī saradh gaī .
The Lord's Name is my clothing; wearing it, I shall never be naked again, and my desire to wear other clothing is gone.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਵਣਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਕੀ ਹਮ ਕੰਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਰਕੁਨੀ ਦੀਈ ॥
har nām hamārā vanaj har nām vāpār har nāmai kī ham kanu satigur kārakunī dīī .
The Lord's Name is my business, the Lord's Name is my commerce; the True Guru has blessed me with its use.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਕਾ ਹਮ ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸਭ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਅਗਲੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਗਈ ॥
har nāmai kā ham lēkhā likhiā sabh jam kī agalī kān gaī .
I record the account of the Lord's Name, and I shall not be subject to death again.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜਿਨ ਕੰਉ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਪਈ ॥੧੭॥
har kā nām guramukh kinai viralai dhiāiā jin kanu dhur karam parāpat likhat paī .17.
Only a few, as Gurmukh, meditate on the Lord's Name; they are blessed by the Lord, and receive their pre-ordained destiny. ||17||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਨੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
guramukh sēv n kīnīā har nām n lagō piār .
One who does not serve the Guru as Gurmukh, who does not love the Lord's Name,
ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥
sabadai sād n āiō mar janamai vārō vār .
and who does not savor the taste of the Shabad, shall die, and be reborn, over and over again.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਇਆ ਸੈਸਾਰਿ ॥
manamukh andh n chētaī kit āiā saisār .
The blind, self-willed manmukh does not think of the Lord; why did he even come into the world?
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲੰਘੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
nānak jin kau nadar karē sē guramukh langhē pār .1.
O Nanak, that Gurmukh, upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, crosses over the world-ocean. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਇਕੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਗਤਾ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਗੁ ਸੂਤਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਿਆਸਿ ॥
ikō satigur jāgatā hōr jag sūtā mōh piās .
Only the Guru is awake; the rest of the world is asleep in emotional attachment and desire.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਜਾਗੰਨਿ ਸੇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਿ ॥
satigur sēvan jāgann sē jō ratē sach nām gunatās .
Those who serve the True Guru and remain wakeful, are imbued with the True Name, the treasure of virtue.
