ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
sō satigur tin kau bhētiā jin kai mukh masatak bhāg likh pāiā .7.
The True Guru meets with those upon whose foreheads such blessed destiny is recorded. ||7||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਜਮੁ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
kal mah jam jandār hai hukamē kār kamāi .
In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Messenger of Death is the enemy of life, but he acts according to the Lord's Command.
ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
gur rākhē sē ubarē manamukhā dēi sajāi .
Those who are protected by the Guru are saved, while the self-willed manmukhs receive their punishment.
ਜਮਕਾਲੈ ਵਸਿ ਜਗੁ ਬਾਂਧਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਫਰੂ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
jamakālai vas jag bānhdhiā tis dā pharū n kōi .
The world is under the control, and in the bondage of the Messenger of Death; no one can hold him back.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਮੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੋ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
jin jam kītā sō sēvīai guramukh dukh n hōi .
So serve the One who created Death; as Gurmukh, no pain shall touch you.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਮੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਸਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
nānak guramukh jam sēvā karē jin man sachā hōi .1.
O Nanak, Death serves the Gurmukhs; the True Lord abides in their minds. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਏਹਾ ਕਾਇਆ ਰੋਗਿ ਭਰੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
ēhā kāiā rōg bharī bin sabadai dukh haumai rōg n jāi .
This body is filled with disease; without the Word of the Shabad, the pain of the disease of ego does not depart.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥
satigur milai tā niramal hōvai har nāmō mann vasāi .
When one meets the True Guru, then he becomes immaculately pure, and he enshrines the Lord's Name within his mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੨॥
nānak nām dhiāiā sukhadātā dukh visariā sahaj subhāi .2.
O Nanak, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Peace-Giving Lord, his pains are automatically forgotten. ||2||

ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਸਦਾ ਘੁਮਾਇਆ ॥
jin jagajīvan upadēsiā tis gur kau hau sadā ghumāiā .
I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru, who has taught me about the Lord, the Life of the World.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥
tis gur kau hau khannīai jin madhusūdan har nām sunāiā .
I am every bit a sacrifice to the Guru, the Lover of Nectar, who has revealed the Name of the Lord.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਣੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
tis gur kau hau vāranai jin haumai bikh sabh rōg gavāiā .
I am a sacrifice to the Guru, who has totally cured me of the fatal disease of egotism.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਕਟਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ॥
tis satigur kau vad punn hai jin avagan kat gunī samajhāiā .
Glorious and great are the virtues of the Guru, who has eradicated evil, and instructed me in virtue.
