ਬਾਬਾ ਆਵਹੁ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਹ ਮਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਦੇਹ ਆਸੀਸਾ ਹੇ ॥
bābā āvah bhāīhō gal milah mil mil dēh āsīsā hē .
Come, O Baba, and Siblings of Destiny - let's join together; take me in your arms, and bless me with your prayers.
ਬਾਬਾ ਸਚੜਾ ਮੇਲੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੀਆ ਦੇਹ ਅਸੀਸਾ ਹੇ ॥
bābā sacharā mēl n chukaī prītam kīā dēh asīsā hē .
O Baba, union with the True Lord cannot be broken; bless me with your prayers for union with my Beloved.
ਆਸੀਸਾ ਦੇਵਹੋ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇਵਹੋ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਮੇਲੋ ॥
āsīsā dēvahō bhagat karēvahō miliā kā kiā mēlō .
Bless me with your prayers, that I may perform devotional worship service to my Lord; for those already united with Him, what is there to unite?
ਇਕਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਥੇਹਹੁ ਥਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਖੇਲੋ ॥
ik bhūlē nāvah thēhah thāvah gur sabadī sach khēlō .
Some have wandered away from the Name of the Lord, and lost the Path. The Word of the Guru's Shabad is the true game.
ਜਮ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਵੇਸੇ ॥
jam mārag nahī jānā sabad samānā jug jug sāchai vēsē .
Do not go on Death's path; remain merged in the Word of the Shabad, the true form throughout the ages.
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੈਣ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਖੋਲੇ ਫਾਸੇ ॥੨॥
sājan sain milah sanjōgī gur mil khōlē phāsē .2.
Through good fortune, we meet such friends and relatives, who meet with the Guru, and escape the noose of Death. ||2||
ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਂਗੜਾ ਆਇਆ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
bābā nānhgarā āiā jag mah dukh sukh lēkh likhāiā .
O Baba, we come into the world naked, into pain and pleasure, according to the record of our account.
ਲਿਖਿਅੜਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਨਾ ਟਲੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
likhiarā sāhā nā talai jēharā purab kamāiā .
The call of our pre-ordained destiny cannot be altered; it follows from our past actions.
ਬਹਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
bah sāchai likhiā anmrit bikhiā jit lāiā tit lāgā .
The True Lord sits and writes of ambrosial nectar, and bitter poison; as the Lord attaches us, so are we attached.
ਕਾਮਣਿਆਰੀ ਕਾਮਣ ਪਾਏ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ਗਲਿ ਤਾਗਾ ॥
kāmaniārī kāman pāē bah rangī gal tāgā .
The Charmer, Maya, has worked her charms, and the multi-colored thread is around everyone's neck.
ਹੋਛੀ ਮਤਿ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਛਾ ਗੁੜੁ ਸਾ ਮਖੀ ਖਾਇਆ ॥
hōshī mat bhaiā man hōshā gur sā makhī khāiā .
Through shallow intellect, the mind becomes shallow, and one eats the fly, along with the sweets.
ਨਾ ਮਰਜਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ਕਲਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਨਾਂਗੋ ਬੰਧਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
nā marajād āiā kal bhītar nānhgō bandh chalāiā .3.
Contrary to custom, he comes into the Dark Age of Kali Yuga naked, and naked he is bound down and sent away again. ||3||
ਬਾਬਾ ਰੋਵਹੁ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੈ ਰੋਵਣਾ ਜਾਨੀਅੜਾ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਠਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥
bābā rōvah jē kisai rōvanā jānīarā bandh pathāiā hai .
O Baba, weep and mourn if you must; the beloved soul is bound and driven off.
ਲਿਖਿਅੜਾ ਲੇਖੁ ਨ ਮੇਟੀਐ ਦਰਿ ਹਾਕਾਰੜਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ॥
likhiarā lēkh n mētīai dar hākārarā āiā hai .
The pre-ordained record of destiny cannot be erased; the summons has come from the Lord's Court.
ਹਾਕਾਰਾ ਆਇਆ ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਇਆ ਰੁੰਨੇ ਰੋਵਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
hākārā āiā jā tis bhāiā runnē rōvanahārē .
The messenger comes, when it pleases the Lord, and the mourners begin to mourn.
ਪੁਤ ਭਾਈ ਭਾਤੀਜੇ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
put bhāī bhātījē rōvah prītam at piārē .
Sons, brothers, nephews and very dear friends weep and wail.
ਭੈ ਰੋਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਕੋ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਮੁਇਆ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
bhai rōvai gun sār samālē kō marai n muiā nālē .
Let him weep, who weeps in the Fear of God, cherishing the virtues of God. No one dies with the dead.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਜਾਣ ਸਿਜਾਣਾ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੫॥
nānak jug jug jān sijānā rōvah sach samālē .4.5.
O Nanak, throughout the ages, they are known as wise, who weep, remembering the True Lord. ||4||5||

ਬਾਬਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਠਿ ਚਲਣਾ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਪਸਾਰੋਵਾ ॥
bābā āiā hai uth chalanā ih jag jhūth pasārōvā .
O Baba, whoever has come, will rise up and leave; this world is merely a false show.
ਸਚਾ ਘਰੁ ਸਚੜੈ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਖਰਾ ਸਚਿਆਰੋਵਾ ॥
sachā ghar sacharai sēvīai sach kharā sachiārōvā .
One's true home is obtained by serving the True Lord; real Truth is obtained by being truthful.
ਕੂੜਿ ਲਬਿ ਜਾਂ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਸੀ ਅਗੈ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਠਾਓ ॥
kūr lab jānh thāi n pāsī agai lahai n thāō .
By falsehood and greed, no place of rest is found, and no place in the world hereafter is obtained.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਉ ਨ ਬੈਸਹੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਓ ॥
antar āu n baisah kahīai jiu sunñai ghar kāō .
No one invites him to come in and sit down. He is like a crow in a deserted home.
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਵਡਾ ਵੇਛੋੜਾ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
janman maran vadā vēshōrā binasai jag sabāē .
Trapped by birth and death, he is separated from the Lord for such a long time; the whole world is wasting away.
ਲਬਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਗਤੁ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਖੜਾ ਰੂਆਏ ॥੧॥
lab dhandhai māiā jagat bhulāiā kāl kharā rūāē .1.
Greed, worldly entanglements and Maya deceive the world. Death hovers over its head, and causes it to weep. ||1||
