ਹਉ ਮੁਠੜੀ ਧੰਧੈ ਧਾਵਣੀਆ ਪਿਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਅੜੀ ਵਿਧਣਕਾਰੇ ॥
hau mutharī dhandhai dhāvanīā pir shōdiarī vidhanakārē .
I too have been defrauded, chasing after worldly entanglements; my Husband Lord has forsaken me - I practice the evil deeds of a wife without a spouse.
ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਮਹੇਲੀਆ ਰੂੜੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
ghar ghar kant mahēlīā rūrai hēt piārē .
In each and every home, are the brides of the Husband Lord; they gaze upon their Handsome Lord with love and affection.
ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਹਉ ਰਹਸਿਅੜੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਭਤਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
mai pir sach sālāhanā hau rahasiarī nām bhatārē .7.
I sing the Praises of my True Husband Lord, and through the Naam, the Name of my Husband Lord, I blossom forth. ||7||
ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਵੇਸੁ ਪਲਟਿਆ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸਚੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥
gur miliai vēs palatiā sā dhan sach sīgārō .
Meeting with the Guru, the soul-bride's dress is transformed, and she is adorned with Truth.
ਆਵਹੁ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੋ ॥
āvah milah sahēlīhō simarah sirajanahārō .
Come and meet with me, O brides of the Lord; let's meditate in remembrance on the Creator Lord.
ਬਈਅਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੋੁਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੋ ॥
baīar nām sōhāganī sach savāranahārō .
Through the Naam, the soul-bride becomes the Lord's favorite; she is adorned with Truth.
ਗਾਵਹੁ ਗੀਤੁ ਨ ਬਿਰਹੜਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੮॥੩॥
gāvah gīt n biraharā nānak braham bīchārō .8.3.
Do not sing the songs of separation, O Nanak; reflect upon God. ||8||3||
ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਦਖਣੀ ॥

ਸਚੁ ਸਿਰੰਦਾ ਸਚਾ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਚੜਾ ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰੋ ॥
sach sirandā sachā jānīai sacharā paravadagārō .
The True Creator Lord is True - know this well; He is the True Sustainer.
ਜਿਨਿ ਆਪੀਨੈ ਆਪੁ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਸਚੜਾ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥
jin āpīnai āp sājiā sacharā alakh apārō .
He Himself fashioned His Own Self; the True Lord is invisible and infinite.
ਦੁਇ ਪੁੜ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਅਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰੁ ਅੰਧਾਰੋ ॥
dui pur jōr vishōrian gur bin ghōr andhārō .
He brought together, and then separated, the two grinding stones of the earth and the sky; without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness.
ਸੂਰਜੁ ਚੰਦੁ ਸਿਰਜਿਅਨੁ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਚਲਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
sūraj chand sirajian ahinis chalat vīchārō .1.
He created the sun and the moon; night and day, they move according to His Thought. ||1||
ਸਚੜਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਸਚੜਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sacharā sāhib sach tū sacharā dēh piārō . rahāu .
O True Lord and Master, You are True. O True Lord, bless me with Your Love. ||Pause||
ਤੁਧੁ ਸਿਰਜੀ ਮੇਦਨੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੋ ॥
tudh sirajī mēdanī dukh sukh dēvanahārō .
You created the Universe; You are the Giver of pain and pleasure.
ਨਾਰੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਿਰਜਿਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥
nārī purakh sirajiai bikh māiā mōh piārō .
You created woman and man, the love of poison, and emotional attachment to Maya.
ਖਾਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਤੇਰੀਆ ਦੇਹਿ ਜੀਆ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥
khānī bānī tērīā dēh jīā ādhārō .
The four sources of creation, and the power of the Word, are also of Your making. You give Support to all beings.
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਤਖਤੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਸਚਿ ਨਿਬੇੜਣਹਾਰੋ ॥੨॥
kudarat takhat rachāiā sach nibēranahārō .2.
You have made the Creation as Your Throne; You are the True Judge. ||2||
ਆਵਾ ਗਵਣੁ ਸਿਰਜਿਆ ਤੂ ਥਿਰੁ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੋ ॥
āvā gavan sirajiā tū thir karanaihārō .
You created comings and goings, but You are ever-stable, O Creator Lord.
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਆਇ ਗਇਆ ਬਧਿਕੁ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਕਾਰੋ ॥
janman maranā āi gaiā badhik jīu bikārō .
In birth and death, in coming and going, this soul is held in bondage by corruption.
ਭੂਡੜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਬੂਡੜੈ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਚਾਰੋ ॥
bhūdarai nām visāriā būdarai kiā tis chārō .
The evil person has forgotten the Naam; he has drowned - what can he do now?
ਗੁਣ ਛੋਡਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਲਦਿਆ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਵਣਜਾਰੋ ॥੩॥
gun shōd bikh ladiā avagun kā vanajārō .3.
Forsaking merit, he has loaded the poisonous cargo of demerits; he is a trader of sins. ||3||
ਸਦੜੇ ਆਏ ਤਿਨਾ ਜਾਨੀਆ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਚੇ ਕਰਤਾਰੋ ॥
sadarē āē tinā jānīā hukam sachē karatārō .
The beloved soul has received the Call, the Command of the True Creator Lord.
ਨਾਰੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰੋ ॥
nārī purakh vishunniā vishuriā mēlanahārō .
The soul, the husband, has become separated from the body, the bride. The Lord is the Re-uniter of the separated ones.
ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੋਹਣੀਐ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਬਧੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰੋ ॥
rūp n jānai sōhanīai hukam badhī sir kārō .
No one cares for your beauty, O beautiful bride.; the Messenger of Death is bound only by the Lord Commander's Command.
ਬਾਲਕ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਤੋੜਨਿ ਹੇਤੁ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥੪॥
bālak biradh n jānanī tōran hēt piārō .4.
He does not distinguish between young children and old people; he tears apart love and affection. ||4||
ਨਉ ਦਰ ਠਾਕੇ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਚੈ ਹੰਸੁ ਗਇਆ ਗੈਣਾਰੇ ॥
nau dar thākē hukam sachai hans gaiā gainārē .
The nine doors are closed by the True Lord's Command, and the swan-soul takes flight into the skies.
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਛੁਟੀ ਮੁਠੀ ਝੂਠਿ ਵਿਧਣੀਆ ਮਿਰਤਕੜਾ ਅੰਙਨੜੇ ਬਾਰੇ ॥
sā dhan shutī muthī jhūth vidhanīā miratakarā annanarē bārē .
The body-bride is separated, and defrauded by falsehood; she is now a widow - her husband's body lies dead in the courtyard.
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਮੁਈ ਮਰੁ ਮਾਈਏ ਮਹਲ ਰੁੰਨੀ ਦਰ ਬਾਰੇ ॥
surat muī mar māīē mahal runnī dar bārē .
The widow cries out at the door, "The light of my mind has gone out, O my mother, with his death."
ਰੋਵਹੁ ਕੰਤ ਮਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੫॥
rōvah kant mahēlīhō sachē kē gun sārē .5.
So cry out, O soul-brides of the Husband Lord, and dwell on the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. ||5||
ਜਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਜਾਨੀ ਨਾਵਾਲਿਆ ਕਪੜਿ ਪਟਿ ਅੰਬਾਰੇ ॥
jal mal jānī nāvāliā kapar pat anbārē .
Her loved one is cleansed, bathed in water, and dressed in silken robes.
ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜੇ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀਆ ਪੰਚ ਮੁਏ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
vājē vajē sachī bānīā panch muē man mārē .
The musicians play, and the Bani of the True Lord's Words are sung; the five relatives feel as if they too are dead, so deadened are their minds.
ਜਾਨੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੜੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਰਣੁ ਭਇਆ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥
jānī vishunnarē mērā maran bhaiā dhrig jīvan sansārē .
Separation from my beloved is like death to me! cries the widow. "My life in this world is cursed and worthless!"
ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਸੁ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਪਿਰ ਸਚੜੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੬॥
jīvat marai s jānīai pir sacharai hēt piārē .6.
But she alone is approved, who dies, while yet still alive; she lives for the sake of the Love of her Beloved. ||6||
ਤੁਸੀ ਰੋਵਹੁ ਰੋਵਣ ਆਈਹੋ ਝੂਠਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥
tusī rōvah rōvan āīhō jhūth muthī sansārē .
So cry out in mourning, you who have come to mourn; this world is false and fraudulent.
