ਰਾਜੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
rāj tērā kabah n jāvai .
Your rule shall never end.
ਰਾਜੋ ਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਹੁ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਵਏ ॥
rājō t tērā sadā nihachal ēh kabah n jāvaē .
Your rule is eternal and unchanging; it shall never come to an end.
ਚਾਕਰੁ ਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੋਇ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੋਇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਏ ॥
chākar t tērā sōi hōvai jōi sahaj samāvaē .
He alone becomes Your servant, who contemplates You in peaceful ease.
ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਤ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਮੂਲੇ ਪਾਪੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥
dusaman t dūkh n lagai mūlē pāp nēr n āvaē .
Enemies and pains shall never touch him, and sin shall never draw near him.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੋਵਾ ਏਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਵਏ ॥੪॥
hau balihārī sadā hōvā ēk tērē nāvaē .4.
I am forever a sacrifice to the One Lord, and Your Name. ||4||
ਜੁਗਹ ਜੁਗੰਤਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੈ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥
jugah jugantar bhagat tumārē . kīrat karah suāmī tērai duārē .
Throughout the ages, Your devotees sing the Kirtan of Your Praises, O Lord Master, at Your Door.
ਜਪਹਿ ਤ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥
japah t sāchā ēk murārē .
They meditate on the One True Lord.
ਸਾਚਾ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ਤਾਮਿ ਜਾਪਹਿ ਜਾਮਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਹੇ ॥
sāchā murārē tām jāpah jām mann vasāvahē .
Only then do they meditate on the True Lord, when they enshrine Him in their minds.
ਭਰਮੋ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਜਾਮਿ ਏਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਹੇ ॥
bharamō bhulāvā tujhah kīā jām ēh chukāvahē .
Doubt and delusion are Your making; when these are dispelled,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਜਮਹੁ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥
gur parasādī karah kirapā lēh jamah ubārē .
then, by Guru's Grace, You grant Your Grace, and save them from the noose of Death.
ਜੁਗਹ ਜੁਗੰਤਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥੫॥
jugah jugantar bhagat tumārē .5.
Throughout the ages, they are Your devotees. ||5||
ਵਡੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
vadē mērē sāhibā alakh apārā .
O my Great Lord and Master, You are unfathomable and infinite.
ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਹਉ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
kiu kar karau bēnantī hau ākh n jānā .
How should I make and offer my prayer? I do not know what to say.
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥
nadar karah tā sāch pashānā .
If You bless me with Your Glance of Grace, I realize the Truth.
ਸਾਚੋ ਪਛਾਣਾ ਤਾਮਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਾਮਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਵਹੇ ॥
sāchō pashānā tām tērā jām āp bujhāvahē .
Only then do I come to realize the Truth, when You Yourself instruct me.
ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਸਹਸਾ ਏਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਹੇ ॥
dūkh bhūkh sansār kīē sahasā ēh chukāvahē .
The pain and hunger of the world are Your making; dispel this doubt.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਇ ਸਹਸਾ ਬੁਝੈ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
binavant nānak jāi sahasā bujhai gur bīchārā .
Prays Nanak, ones skepticism is taken away, when he understands the Guru's wisdom.
ਵਡਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਹੈ ਆਪਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥੬॥
vadā sāhib hai āp alakh apārā .6.
The Great Lord Master is unfathomable and infinite. ||6||
ਤੇਰੇ ਬੰਕੇ ਲੋਇਣ ਦੰਤ ਰੀਸਾਲਾ ॥
tērē bankē lōin dant rīsālā .
Your eyes are so beautiful, and Your teeth are delightful.
ਸੋਹਣੇ ਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਲੰਮੜੇ ਵਾਲਾ ॥
sōhanē nak jin lanmarē vālā .
Your nose is so graceful, and Your hair is so long.
ਕੰਚਨ ਕਾਇਆ ਸੁਇਨੇ ਕੀ ਢਾਲਾ ॥
kanchan kāiā suinē kī dhālā .
Your body is so precious, cast in gold.
ਸੋਵੰਨ ਢਾਲਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਮਾਲਾ ਜਪਹੁ ਤੁਸੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ॥
sōvann dhālā krisan mālā japah tusī sahēlīhō .
His body is cast in gold, and He wears Krishna's mala; meditate on Him, O sisters.
ਜਮ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਹੁ ਖੜੀਆ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਮਹੇਲੀਹੋ ॥
jam duār n hōh kharīā sikh sunah mahēlīhō .
You shall not have to stand at Death's door, O sisters, if you listen to these teachings.
ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
vadahans mahalā 1 .

ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਾ ॥
karah daiā tērā nām vakhānā .
Show mercy to me, that I may chant Your Name.
ਸਭ ਉਪਾਈਐ ਆਪਿ ਆਪੇ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
sabh upāīai āp āpē sarab samānā .
You Yourself created all, and You are pervading among all.
ਸਰਬੇ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਉਪਾਇ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਈਆ ॥
sarabē samānā āp tūhai upāi dhandhai lāīā .
You Yourself are pervading among all, and You link them to their tasks.
ਹੰਸ ਹੰਸਾ ਬਗ ਬਗਾ ਲਹੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਜਾਲਾ ॥
hans hansā bag bagā lahai man kī jālā .
From a crane, you shall be transformed into a swan, and the filth of your mind shall be removed.
ਬੰਕੇ ਲੋਇਣ ਦੰਤ ਰੀਸਾਲਾ ॥੭॥
bankē lōin dant rīsālā .7.
Your eyes are so beautiful, and Your teeth are delightful. ||7||
ਤੇਰੀ ਚਾਲ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਮਧੁਰਾੜੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
tērī chāl suhāvī madhurārī bānī .
Your walk is so graceful, and Your speech is so sweet.
ਇਕਿ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਕੀਏ ਰਾਜੇ ਇਕਨਾ ਭਿਖ ਭਵਾਈਆ ॥
ik tujh hī kīē rājē ikanā bhikh bhavāīā .
Some, You have made kings, while others go about begging.
ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਤੁਝੁ ਕੀਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਏਤੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣਾ ॥
lōbh mōh tujh kīā mīthā ēt bharam bhulānā .
You have made greed and emotional attachment seem sweet; they are deluded by this delusion.
ਕੁਹਕਨਿ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਤਰਲ ਜੁਆਣੀ ॥
kuhakan kōkilā taral juānī .
You coo like a songbird, and your youthful beauty is alluring.
ਤਰਲਾ ਜੁਆਣੀ ਆਪਿ ਭਾਣੀ ਇਛ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੀਏ ॥
taralā juānī āp bhānī ish man kī pūrīē .
Your youthful beauty is so alluring; it pleases You, and it fulfills the heart's desires.
ਸਾਰੰਗ ਜਿਉ ਪਗੁ ਧਰੈ ਠਿਮਿ ਠਿਮਿ ਆਪਿ ਆਪੁ ਸੰਧੂਰਏ ॥
sārang jiu pag dharai thim thim āp āp sandhūraē .
Like an elephant, You step with Your Feet so carefully; You are satisfied with Yourself.
ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਅਪਣੀ ਤਾਮਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
sadā daiā karah apanī tām nām vakhānā .1.
Be ever merciful to me; only then can I chant Your Name. ||1||
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਦਾ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
nām tērā hai sāchā sadā mai man bhānā .
Your Name is True, and ever pleasing to my mind.
ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗ ਰਾਤੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਮਾਤੀ ਉਦਕੁ ਗੰਗਾ ਵਾਣੀ ॥
srīrang rātī phirai mātī udak gangā vānī .
She who is imbued with the Love of such a Great Lord, flows intoxicated, like the waters of the Ganges.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਚਾਲ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਮਧੁਰਾੜੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੮॥੨॥
binavant nānak dās har kā tērī chāl suhāvī madhurārī bānī .8.2.
Prays Nanak, I am Your slave, O Lord; Your walk is so graceful, and Your speech is so sweet. ||8||2||
ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਇ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
dūkh gaiā sukh āi samānā .
My pains are dispelled, and I am permeated with peace.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਸੁਘੜ ਸੁਜਾਣਾ ॥
gāvan sur nar sughar sujānā .
The angels, the mortals and the silent sages sing of You.
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਸੁਘੜ ਸੁਜਾਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਹੇ ॥
sur nar sughar sujān gāvah jō tērai man bhāvahē .
The angels, the mortals and the silent sages sing of You; they are pleasing to Your Mind.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੇ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਹਿਲਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੇ ॥
māiā mōhē chētah nāhī ahilā janam gavāvahē .
Enticed by Maya, they do not remember the Lord, and they waste away their lives in vain.
ਇਕਿ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਮੂਲੇ ਜੋ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
ik mūr mugadh n chētah mūlē jō āiā tis jānā .
Some fools and idiots never think of the Lord; whoever has come, shall have to go.
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
nām tērā sadā sāchā sōi mai man bhānā .2.
Your Name is True, and ever pleasing to my mind. ||2||
ਤੇਰਾ ਵਖਤੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
tērā vakhat suhāvā anmrit tērī bānī .
Beauteous is Your time, O Lord; the Bani of Your Word is Ambrosial Nectar.
ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਾਉ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥
sēvak sēvah bhāu kar lāgā sāu parānī .
Your servants serve You with love; these mortals are attached to Your essence.
ਸਾਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
sāu prānī tinā lāgā jinī anmrit pāiā .
Those mortals are attached to Your essence, who are blessed with the Ambrosial Name.
ਨਾਮਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਜੋਇ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਿਤ ਚੜਹਿ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥
nām tērai jōi rātē nit charah savāiā .
Those who are imbued with Your Name, prosper more and more, day by day.
ਇਕੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਜਾਮਿ ਨ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਣੀ ॥
ik karam dharam n hōi sanjam jām n ēk pashānī .
Some do not practice good deeds, or live righteously; nor do they practice self-restraint. They do not realize the One Lord.
ਵਖਤੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
vakhat suhāvā sadā tērā anmrit tērī bānī .3.
Ever beauteous is Your time, O Lord; the Bani of Your Word is Ambrosial Nectar. ||3||
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਵੈ ॥
hau balihārī sāchē nāvai .
I am a sacrifice to the True Name.
