One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਸੋ ਦਰੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੇਹਾ ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਕੇਹਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਬਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
sō dar tērā kēhā sō ghar kēhā jit bah sarab samālē .
Where is That Door of Yours, and where is That Home, in which You sit and take care of all?
ਵਾਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਦ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਸੰਖਾ ਕੇਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਾਵਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
vājē tērē nād anēk asankhā kētē tērē vāvanahārē .
The Sound-current of the Naad vibrates there for You, and countless musicians play all sorts of instruments there for You.
ਕੇਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਾਗ ਪਰੀ ਸਿਉ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗਾਵਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
kētē tērē rāg parī siu kahīah kētē tērē gāvanahārē .
There are so many Ragas and musical harmonies to You; so many minstrels sing hymns of You.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਪਵਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō pavan pānī baisantar gāvai rājā dharam duārē .
Wind, water and fire sing of You. The Righteous Judge of Dharma sings at Your Door.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਚਿਤੁ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਲਿਖਿ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਧਰਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō chit gupat likh jānan likh likh dharam bīchārē .
Chitr and Gupt, the angels of the conscious and the subconscious who keep the record of actions, and the Righteous Judge of Dharma who reads this record, sing of You.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਈਸਰੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō īsar brahamā dēvī sōhan tērē sadā savārē .
Shiva, Brahma and the Goddess of Beauty, ever adorned by You, sing of You.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਸਣਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆ ਦਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō indr indrāsan baithē dēvatiā dar nālē .
Indra, seated on His Throne, sings of You, with the deities at Your Door.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਸਾਧ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō sidh samādhī andar gāvan tudhanō sādh bīchārē .
The Siddhas in Samaadhi sing of You; the Saadhus sing of You in contemplation.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਵੀਰ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō jatī satī santōkhī gāvan tudhanō vīr karārē .
The celibates, the fanatics, and the peacefully accepting sing of You; the fearless warriors sing of You.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੜਨਿ ਰਖੀਸੁਰ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਵੇਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō pandit paran rakhīsur jug jug vēdā nālē .
The Pandits, the religious scholars who recite the Vedas, with the supreme sages of all the ages, sing of You.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਮੋਹਣੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਨਿ ਸੁਰਗੁ ਮਛੁ ਪਇਆਲੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō mōhanīā man mōhan surag mash paiālē .
The Mohinis, the enchanting heavenly beauties who entice hearts in paradise, in this world, and in the underworld of the subconscious, sing of You.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਰਤਨ ਉਪਾਏ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō ratan upāē tērē athasath tīrath nālē .
The celestial jewels created by You, and the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, sing of You.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਜੋਧ ਮਹਾਬਲ ਸੂਰਾ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਖਾਣੀ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō jōdh mahābal sūrā gāvan tudhanō khānī chārē .
The brave and mighty warriors sing of You. The spiritual heroes and the four sources of creation sing of You.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
gāvan tudhanō khand mandal brahamandā kar kar rakhē tērē dhārē .
The worlds, solar systems and galaxies, created and arranged by Your Hand, sing of You.
ਸੇਈ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਨਿ ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਰਸਾਲੇ ॥
sēī tudhanō gāvan jō tudh bhāvan ratē tērē bhagat rasālē .
They alone sing of You, who are pleasing to Your Will. Your devotees are imbued with Your Sublime Essence.
ਹੋਰਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਸੇ ਮੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਨਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਿਆ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
hōr kētē tudhanō gāvan sē mai chit n āvan nānak kiā bīchārē .
So many others sing of You, they do not come to mind. O Nanak, how can I think of them all?
ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
sōī sōī sadā sach sāhib sāchā sāchī nāī .
That True Lord is True, forever True, and True is His Name.
ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਜਾਸੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਚਾਈ ॥
hai bhī hōsī jāi n jāsī rachanā jin rachāī .
He is, and shall always be. He shall not depart, even when this Universe which He has created departs.
ਰੰਗੀ ਰੰਗੀ ਭਾਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
rangī rangī bhātī kar kar jinasī māiā jin upāī .
He created the world, with its various colors, species of beings, and the variety of Maya.
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਿਉ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
kar kar dēkhai kītā āpanā jiu tis dī vadiāī .
Having created the creation, He watches over it Himself, by His Greatness.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਸੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
jō tis bhāvai sōī karasī phir hukam n karanā jāī .
He does whatever He pleases. No one can issue any order to Him.
ਸੋ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਤਿਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਹਣੁ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
sō pātisāh sāhā patisāhib nānak rahan rajāī .1.
He is the King, the King of kings, the Supreme Lord and Master of kings. Nanak remains subject to His Will. ||1||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਸੁਣਿ ਵਡਾ ਆਖੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
sun vadā ākhai sabh kōi .
Hearing of His Greatness, everyone calls Him Great.
ਕੇਵਡੁ ਵਡਾ ਡੀਠਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
kēvad vadā dīthā hōi .
But just how Great His Greatness is-this is known only to those who have seen Him.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇ ਨ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
kīmat pāi n kahiā jāi .
His Value cannot be estimated; He cannot be described.
ਕਹਣੈ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
kahanai vālē tērē rahē samāi .1.
Those who describe You, Lord, remain immersed and absorbed in You. ||1||
ਵਡੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥
vadē mērē sāhibā gahir ganbhīrā gunī gahīrā .
O my Great Lord and Master of Unfathomable Depth, You are the Ocean of Excellence.
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੇਤਾ ਕੇਵਡੁ ਚੀਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kōi n jānai tērā kētā kēvad chīrā .1. rahāu .
No one knows the extent or the vastness of Your Expanse. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭਿ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
sabh suratī mil surat kamāī .
All the intuitives met and practiced intuitive meditation.
ਸਭ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
sabh kīmat mil kīmat pāī .
All the appraisers met and made the appraisal.
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰਹਾਈ ॥
giānī dhiānī gur gurahāī .
The spiritual teachers, the teachers of meditation, and the teachers of teachers
ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
kahan n jāī tērī til vadiāī .2.
-they cannot describe even an iota of Your Greatness. ||2||
ਸਭਿ ਸਤ ਸਭਿ ਤਪ ਸਭਿ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ॥
sabh sat sabh tap sabh changiāīā .
All Truth, all austere discipline, all goodness,
ਸਿਧਾ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਕੀਆ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥
sidhā purakhā kīā vadiāīā .
all the great miraculous spiritual powers of the Siddhas
ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਿਧੀ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
tudh vin sidhī kinai n pāīā .
-without You, no one has attained such powers.
ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਈਆ ॥੩॥
karam milai nāhī thāk rahāīā .3.
They are received only by Your Grace. No one can block them or stop their flow. ||3||
ਆਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ॥
ākhan vālā kiā vēchārā .
What can the poor helpless creatures do?
ਸਿਫਤੀ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
siphatī bharē tērē bhandārā .
Your Praises are overflowing with Your Treasures.
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਿਆ ਚਾਰਾ ॥
jis tū dēh tisai kiā chārā .
Those, unto whom You give-how can they think of any other?
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
nānak sach savāranahārā .4.2.
O Nanak, the True One embellishes and exalts. ||4||2||

Aasaa, First Mehl:
ਆਖਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
ākhā jīvā visarai mar jāu .
Chanting it, I live; forgetting it, I die.
ਆਖਣਿ ਅਉਖਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
ākhan aukhā sāchā nāu .
It is so difficult to chant the True Name.
ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਭੂਖ ॥
sāchē nām kī lāgai bhūkh .
If someone feels hunger for the True Name,
ਉਤੁ ਭੂਖੈ ਖਾਇ ਚਲੀਅਹਿ ਦੂਖ ॥੧॥
ut bhūkhai khāi chalīah dūkh .1.
that hunger shall consume his pain. ||1||
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥
sō kiu visarai mērī māi .
How can I forget Him, O my mother?
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sāchā sāhib sāchai nāi .1. rahāu .
True is the Master, True is His Name. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
sāchē nām kī til vadiāī .
Trying to describe even an iota of the Greatness of the True Name,
ਆਖਿ ਥਕੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
ākh thakē kīmat nahī pāī .
people have grown weary, but they have not been able to evaluate it.
ਜੇ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਆਖਣ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
jē sabh mil kai ākhan pāh .
Even if everyone were to gather together and speak of Him,
ਵਡਾ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਘਾਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
vadā n hōvai ghāt n jāi .2.
He would not become any greater or any lesser. ||2||
ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
nā ōh marai n hōvai sōg .
That Lord does not die; there is no reason to mourn.
ਦੇਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਭੋਗੁ ॥
dēdā rahai n chūkai bhōg .
He continues to give, and His Provisions never run short.
ਗੁਣੁ ਏਹੋ ਹੋਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
gun ēhō hōr nāhī kōi .
This Virtue is His alone; there is no other like Him.
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਹੋਆ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
nā kō hōā nā kō hōi .3.
There never has been, and there never will be. ||3||
ਜੇਵਡੁ ਆਪਿ ਤੇਵਡ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
jēvad āp tēvad tērī dāt .
As Great as You Yourself are, O Lord, so Great are Your Gifts.
ਜਿਨਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਕੀਤੀ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
jin din kar kai kītī rāt .
The One who created the day also created the night.
ਖਸਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਹਿ ਤੇ ਕਮਜਾਤਿ ॥
khasam visārah tē kamajāt .
Those who forget their Lord and Master are vile and despicable.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਾਝੁ ਸਨਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੩॥
nānak nāvai bājh sanāt .4.3.
O Nanak, without the Name, they are wretched outcasts. ||4||3||

Raag Goojaree, Fourth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਤਪੁਰਖਾ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
har kē jan satigur satapurakhā binau karau gur pās .
O humble servant of the Lord, O True Guru, O True Primal Being: I offer my humble prayer to You, O Guru.
ਹਮ ਕੀਰੇ ਕਿਰਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
ham kīrē kiram satigur saranāī kar daiā nām paragās .1.
I am a mere insect, a worm. O True Guru, I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be merciful, and bless me with the Light of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥
mērē mīt guradēv mō kau rām nām paragās .
O my Best Friend, O Divine Guru, please enlighten me with the Name of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
guramat nām mērā prān sakhāī har kīrat hamarī raharās .1. rahāu .
Through the Guru's Teachings, the Naam is my breath of life. The Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is my life's occupation. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਵਡ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
har jan kē vad bhāg vadērē jin har har saradhā har piās .
The servants of the Lord have the greatest good fortune; they have faith in the Lord, and a longing for the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
har har nām milai tripatāsah mil sangat gun paragās .2.
Obtaining the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, they are satisfied; joining the Sangat, the Blessed Congregation, their virtues shine forth. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਜਮ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
jin har har har ras nām n pāiā tē bhāgahīn jam pās .
Those who have not obtained the Sublime Essence of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, are most unfortunate; they are led away by the Messenger of Death.
ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਏ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵੇ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
jō satigur saran sangat nahī āē dhrig jīvē dhrig jīvās .3.
Those who have not sought the Sanctuary of the True Guru and the Sangat, the Holy Congregation-cursed are their lives, and cursed are their hopes of life. ||3||
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਤਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲਿਖਾਸਿ ॥
jin har jan satigur sangat pāī tin dhur masatak likhiā likhās .
Those humble servants of the Lord who have attained the Company of the True Guru, have such pre-ordained destiny inscribed on their foreheads.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੪॥
dhan dhann satasangat jit har ras pāiā mil jan nānak nām paragās .4.4.
Blessed, blessed is the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, where the Lord's Essence is obtained. Meeting with His humble servant, O Nanak, the Light of the Naam shines forth. ||4||4||
ਰਾਗੁ ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
rāg gūjarī mahalā 5 .
Raag Goojaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਾਹੇ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਚਿਤਵਹਿ ਉਦਮੁ ਜਾ ਆਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਰਿਆ ॥
kāhē rē man chitavah udam jā āhar har jīu pariā .
Why, O mind, do you plot and plan, when the Dear Lord Himself provides for your care?
ਸੈਲ ਪਥਰ ਮਹਿ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਏ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਆਗੈ ਕਰਿ ਧਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
sail pathar mah jant upāē tā kā rijak āgai kar dhariā .1.
From rocks and stones He created living beings; He places their nourishment before them. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਧਉ ਜੀ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁ ਤਰਿਆ ॥
mērē mādhau jī satasangat milē s tariā .
O my Dear Lord of souls, one who joins the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, is saved.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੂਕੇ ਕਾਸਟ ਹਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parasād param pad pāiā sūkē kāsat hariā .1. rahāu .
By Guru's Grace, the supreme status is obtained, and the dry wood blossoms forth again in lush greenery. ||1||Pause||
ਜਨਨਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਕੀ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
janan pitā lōk sut banitā kōi n kis kī dhariā .
Mothers, fathers, friends, children and spouses-no one is the support of anyone else.
ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਕਾਹੇ ਮਨ ਭਉ ਕਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
sir sir rijak sanbāhē thākur kāhē man bhau kariā .2.
For each and every person, our Lord and Master provides sustenance. Why are you so afraid, O mind? ||2||
ਊਡੇ ਊਡਿ ਆਵੈ ਸੈ ਕੋਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਾਛੈ ਬਚਰੇ ਛਰਿਆ ॥
ūdē ūd āvai sai kōsā tis pāshai bacharē shariā .
The flamingoes fly hundreds of miles, leaving their young ones behind.
ਤਿਨ ਕਵਣੁ ਖਲਾਵੈ ਕਵਣੁ ਚੁਗਾਵੈ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਕਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
tin kavan khalāvai kavan chugāvai man mah simaran kariā .3.
Who feeds them, and who teaches them to feed themselves? Have you ever thought of this in your mind? ||3||
ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਦਸ ਅਸਟ ਸਿਧਾਨ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਰ ਤਲ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
sabh nidhān das asat sidhān thākur kar tal dhariā .
All the nine treasures, and the eighteen supernatural powers are held by our Lord and Master in the Palm of His Hand.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੫॥
jan nānak bal bal sad bal jāīai tērā ant n pārāvariā .4.5.
Servant Nanak is devoted, dedicated, forever a sacrifice to You, Lord. Your Expanse has no limit, no boundary. ||4||5||

ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
sō purakh niranjan har purakh niranjan har agamā agam apārā .
That Primal Being is Immaculate and Pure. The Lord, the Primal Being, is Immaculate and Pure. The Lord is Inaccessible, Unreachable and Unrivalled.
ਸਭਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
sabh dhiāvah sabh dhiāvah tudh jī har sachē sirajanahārā .
All meditate, all meditate on You, Dear Lord, O True Creator Lord.
ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ॥
sabh jī tumārē jī tūn jīā kā dātārā .
All living beings are Yours-You are the Giver of all souls.
ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
har dhiāvah santah jī sabh dūkh visāranahārā .
Meditate on the Lord, O Saints; He is the Dispeller of all sorrow.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੀ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
har āpē thākur har āpē sēvak jī kiā nānak jant vichārā .1.
The Lord Himself is the Master, the Lord Himself is the Servant. O Nanak, the poor beings are wretched and miserable! ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
tūn ghat ghat antar sarab nirantar jī har ēkō purakh samānā .
You are constant in each and every heart, and in all things. O Dear Lord, you are the One.
ਇਕਿ ਦਾਤੇ ਇਕਿ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜੀ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣਾ ॥
ik dātē ik bhēkhārī jī sabh tērē chōj vidānā .
Some are givers, and some are beggars. This is all Your Wondrous Play.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਜੀ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
tūn āpē dātā āpē bhugatā jī hau tudh bin avar n jānā .
You Yourself are the Giver, and You Yourself are the Enjoyer. I know no other than You.
ਤੂੰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣਾ ॥
tūn pārabraham bēant bēant jī tērē kiā gun ākh vakhānā .
You are the Supreme Lord God, Limitless and Infinite. What Virtues of Yours can I speak of and describe?
ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
jō sēvah jō sēvah tudh jī jan nānak tin kurabānā .2.
Unto those who serve You, unto those who serve You, Dear Lord, servant Nanak is a sacrifice. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਖਵਾਸੀ ॥
har dhiāvah har dhiāvah tudh jī sē jan jug mah sukhavāsī .
Those who meditate on You, Lord, those who meditate on You-those humble beings dwell in peace in this world.
ਸੇ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਸੇ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਭਏ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀ ਤਿਨ ਤੂਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ॥
sē mukat sē mukat bhaē jin har dhiāiā jī tin tūtī jam kī phāsī .
They are liberated, they are liberated-those who meditate on the Lord. For them, the noose of death is cut away.
ਜਿਨ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਸਭੁ ਗਵਾਸੀ ॥
jin nirabhau jin har nirabhau dhiāiā jī tin kā bhau sabh gavāsī .
Those who meditate on the Fearless One, on the Fearless Lord-all their fears are dispelled.
ਜਿਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪਿ ਸਮਾਸੀ ॥
jin sēviā jin sēviā mērā har jī tē har har rūp samāsī .
Those who serve, those who serve my Dear Lord, are absorbed into the Being of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਸੇ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੇ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸੀ ॥੩॥
sē dhann sē dhann jin har dhiāiā jī jan nānak tin bal jāsī .3.
Blessed are they, blessed are they, who meditate on their Dear Lord. Servant Nanak is a sacrifice to them. ||3||
ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਜੀ ਭਰੇ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਬੇਅੰਤਾ ॥
tērī bhagat tērī bhagat bhandār jī bharē biant bēantā .
Devotion to You, devotion to You, is a treasure overflowing, infinite and beyond measure.
ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੰਤਾ ॥
tērē bhagat tērē bhagat salāhan tudh jī har anik anēk anantā .
Your devotees, Your devotees praise You, Dear Lord, in many and various and countless ways.
ਤੇਰੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਜੀ ਤਪੁ ਤਾਪਹਿ ਜਪਹਿ ਬੇਅੰਤਾ ॥
tērī anik tērī anik karah har pūjā jī tap tāpah japah bēantā .
For You, many, for You, so very many perform worship services, O Dear Infinite Lord; they practice disciplined meditation and chant endlessly.
ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਪੜਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਜੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੰਤਾ ॥
tērē anēk tērē anēk parah bah simrit sāsat jī kar kiriā khat karam karantā .
For You, many, for You, so very many read the various Simritees and Shaastras. They perform rituals and religious rites.
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਭਲੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥੪॥
sē bhagat sē bhagat bhalē jan nānak jī jō bhāvah mērē har bhagavantā .4.
Those devotees, those devotees are sublime, O servant Nanak, who are pleasing to my Dear Lord God. ||4||
ਤੂੰ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
tūn ād purakh aparanpar karatā jī tudh jēvad avar n kōī .
You are the Primal Being, the Most Wonderful Creator. There is no other as Great as You.
ਤੂੰ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਏਕੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਏਕੋ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
tūn jug jug ēkō sadā sadā tūn ēkō jī tūn nihachal karatā sōī .
Age after age, You are the One. Forever and ever, You are the One. You never change, O Creator Lord.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
tudh āpē bhāvai sōī varatai jī tūn āpē karah s hōī .
Everything happens according to Your Will. You Yourself accomplish all that occurs.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਉਪਾਈ ਜੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਜਿ ਸਭ ਗੋਈ ॥
tudh āpē srisat sabh upāī jī tudh āpē siraj sabh gōī .
You Yourself created the entire universe, and having fashioned it, You Yourself shall destroy it all.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਸਭਸੈ ਕਾ ਜਾਣੋਈ ॥੫॥੧॥
jan nānak gun gāvai karatē kē jī jō sabhasai kā jānōī .5.1.
Servant Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Dear Creator, the Knower of all. ||5||1||

ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ਮੈਡਾ ਸਾਂਈ ॥
tūn karatā sachiār maidā sānhī .
You are the True Creator, my Lord and Master.
ਜੋ ਤਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਥੀਸੀ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਹਉ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jō tau bhāvai sōī thīsī jō tūn dēh sōī hau pāī .1. rahāu .
Whatever pleases You comes to pass. As You give, so do we receive. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
sabh tērī tūn sabhanī dhiāiā .
All belong to You, all meditate on you.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jis nō kripā karah tin nām ratan pāiā .
Those who are blessed with Your Mercy obtain the Jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਧਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
guramukh lādhā manamukh gavāiā .
The Gurmukhs obtain it, and the self-willed manmukhs lose it.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
tudh āp vishōriā āp milāiā .1.
You Yourself separate them from Yourself, and You Yourself reunite with them again. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਸਭ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
tūn darīāu sabh tujh hī māh .
You are the River of Life; all are within You.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
tujh bin dūjā kōī nāh .
There is no one except You.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਖੇਲੁ ॥
jī jant sabh tērā khēl .
All living beings are Your playthings.
ਵਿਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੨॥
vijōg mil vishuriā sanjōgī mēl .2.
The separated ones meet, and by great good fortune, those suffering in separation are reunited once again. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਜਾਣਾਇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jis nō tū jānāih sōī jan jānai .
They alone understand, whom You inspire to understand;
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
har gun sad hī ākh vakhānai .
they continually chant and repeat the Lord's Praises.
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jin har sēviā tin sukh pāiā .
Those who serve You find peace.
ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
sahajē hī har nām samāiā .3.
They are intuitively absorbed into the Lord's Name. ||3||
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
tū āpē karatā tērā kīā sabh hōi .
You Yourself are the Creator. Everything that happens is by Your Doing.
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
tudh bin dūjā avar n kōi .
There is no one except You.
ਤੂ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
tū kar kar vēkhah jānah sōi .
You created the creation; You behold it and understand it.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥
jan nānak guramukh paragat hōi .4.2.
O servant Nanak, the Lord is revealed through the Gurmukh, the Living Expression of the Guru's Word. ||4||2||

ਤਿਤੁ ਸਰਵਰੜੈ ਭਈਲੇ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਕੀਆ ॥
tit saravararai bhaīlē nivāsā pānī pāvak tinah kīā .
In that pool, people have made their homes, but the water there is as hot as fire!
ਪੰਕਜੁ ਮੋਹ ਪਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਚਾਲੈ ਹਮ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਡੂਬੀਅਲੇ ॥੧॥
pankaj mōh pag nahī chālai ham dēkhā tah dūbīalē .1.
In the swamp of emotional attachment, their feet cannot move. I have seen them drowning there. ||1||
ਮਨ ਏਕੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਸਿ ਮੂੜ ਮਨਾ ॥
man ēk n chētas mūr manā .
In your mind, you do not remember the One Lord-you fool!
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਲਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bisarat tērē gun galiā .1. rahāu .
You have forgotten the Lord; your virtues shall wither away. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾ ਹਉ ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਨਹੀ ਪੜਿਆ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
nā hau jatī satī nahī pariā mūrakh mugadhā janam bhaiā .
I am not celibate, nor truthful, nor scholarly. I was born foolish and ignorant into this world.
ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾ ਜਿਨ ਤੂ ਨਾਹੀ ਵੀਸਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੩॥
pranavat nānak tin kī saranā jin tū nāhī vīsariā .2.3.
Prays Nanak, I seek the Sanctuary of those who have not forgotten You, O Lord! ||2||3||

This human body has been given to you.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਮਿਲਣ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
gōbind milan kī ih tērī barīā .
This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe.
ਅਵਰਿ ਕਾਜ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਕਾਮ ॥
avar kāj tērai kitai n kām .
Nothing else will work.
ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥
mil sādhasangat bhaj kēval nām .1.
Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; vibrate and meditate on the Jewel of the Naam. ||1||
ਸਰੰਜਾਮਿ ਲਾਗੁ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਨ ਕੈ ॥
saranjām lāg bhavajal taran kai .
Make every effort to cross over this terrifying world-ocean.
ਜਨਮੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਾਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam brithā jāt rang māiā kai .1. rahāu .
You are squandering this life uselessly in the love of Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
jap tap sanjam dharam n kamāiā .
I have not practiced meditation, self-discipline, self-restraint or righteous living.
ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾਧ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
sēvā sādh n jāniā har rāiā .
I have not served the Holy; I have not acknowledged the Lord, my King.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥
kah nānak ham nīch karanmā .
Says Nanak, my actions are contemptible!
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਮਾ ॥੨॥੪॥

ਆਪੁ ਹਾਥ ਦੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਚਾਵਹੁ ॥

ਸੁਖੀ ਬਸੈ ਮੋਰੋ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾ ॥

May my family live in comfort

ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਆਸਾ ॥
pooran hoi hamaaree aasaa ||
May all the aspirations be fulfilled
ਤੋਰ ਭਜਨ ਕੀ ਰਹੈ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥੩੭੯॥
tor bhajan kee rahai piaasaa ||379||
Let my thirst for Thy Name remain afresh.379.
ਤੁਮਹਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੋਈ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਧਿਯਾਊਂ ॥
tumeh chhaadd koiee avar na dhiyaauoo(n) ||
I may remember none else except Thee
ਜੋ ਬਰ ਚਹੋਂ ਸੁ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਪਾਊਂ ॥
jo bar chaho(n) su tum te paauoo(n) ||
And obtain all the required boons from Thee
ਸੇਵਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਤਾਰੀਅਹਿ ॥
sevak si'kh hamaare taare'eh ||
Let my servants and disciples cross the world-ocean
ਚੁਨਿ ਚੁਨਿ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ॥੩੮੦॥
chun chun satr hamaare maare'eh ||380||
All my enemies be singled out and killed.380.
ਆਪ ਹਾਥ ਦੈ ਮੁਝੈ ਉਬਰਿਯੈ ॥
aap haath dhai mujhai ubariyai ||
Protect me O Lord! with Thine own Hands and
ਮਰਨ ਕਾਲ ਕਾ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਨਿਵਰਿਯੈ ॥
maran kaal kaa traas nivariyai ||
relieve me form the fear of death
ਹੂਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਪੱਛਾ ॥
hoojo sadhaa hamaare pa'chhaa ||
May Thou ever Bestow Thy favours on my side
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਸਿਧੁਜ ਜੂ ਕਰਿਯਹੁ ਰੱਛਾ ॥੩੮੧॥
sree asidhuj joo kariyahu ra'chhaa ||381||
Protect me O Lord! Thou, the Supreme Destroyer.381.
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
raakh leh muh raakhanahaare ||
Protect me, O Protector Lord!
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਇ ਪਿਯਾਰੇ ॥
saahib sa(n)t sahai piyaare ||
Most dear, the Protector of the Saints:
ਦੀਨ ਬੰਧੁ ਦੁਸਟਨ ਕੇ ਹੰਤਾ ॥
dheen ba(n)dh dhusaTan ke ha(n)taa ||
Friend of poor and the Destroyer of the enemies
ਤੁਮ ਹੋ ਪੁਰੀ ਚਤੁਰ ਦਸ ਕੰਤਾ ॥੩੮੨॥
tum ho puree chatur dhas ka(n)taa ||382||
Thou art the Master of the fourteen worlds.382.
ਕਾਲ ਪਾਇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਪੁ ਧਰਾ ॥
kaal pai brahamaa bap dharaa ||
In due time Brahma appeared in physical form
ਕਾਲ ਪਾਇ ਸਿਵਜੂ ਅਵਤਰਾ ॥
kaal pai sivajoo avataraa ||
In due time Shiva incarnated
ਕਾਲ ਪਾਇ ਕਰ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਾ ॥
kaal pai kar bisan prakaasaa ||
In due time Vishnu manifested himself
ਸਕਲ ਕਾਲ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਤਮਾਸਾ ॥੩੮੩॥
sakal kaal kaa keeaa tamaasaa ||383||
All this is the play of the Temporal Lord.383.
ਜਵਨ ਕਾਲ ਜੋਗੀ ਸਿਵ ਕੀਓ ॥
javan kaal jogee siv keeo ||
The Temporal Lord, who created Shiva, the Yogi
ਬੇਦ ਰਾਜ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਜੂ ਥੀਓ ॥
bedh raaj brahamaa joo theeo ||
Who created Brahma, the Master of the Vedas
ਜਵਨ ਕਾਲ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਸਵਾਰਾ ॥
javan kaal sabh lok savaaraa ||
The Temporal Lord who fashioned the entire world
ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੩੮੪॥
namasakaar hai taeh hamaaraa ||384||
I salute the same Lord.384.
ਜਵਨ ਕਾਲ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
javan kaal sabh jagat banaayo ||
The Temporal Lord, who created the whole world
ਦੇਵ ਦੈਤ ਜੱਛਨ ਉਪਜਾਯੋ ॥
dhev dhait ja'chhan upajaayo ||
Who created gods, demons and yakshas
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਏਕੈ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ ॥
aadh a(n)t ekai avataaraa ||
He is the only one form the beginning to the end
ਸੋਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮਝਿਯਹੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੩੮੫॥
soiee guroo samajhiyahu hamaaraa ||385||
I consider Him only my Guru.385.
ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੋ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
namasakaar tis hee ko hamaaree ||
I salute Him, non else, but Him
ਸਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਜਿਨ ਆਪ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
sakal prajaa jin aap savaaree ||
Who has created Himself and His subject
ਸਿਵਕਨ ਕੋ ਸਿਵਗੁਨ ਸੁਖ ਦੀਓ ॥
sivakan ko sivagun sukh dheeo ||
He bestows Divine virtues and happiness on His servants
ਸਤੱ੍ਰੁਨ ਕੋ ਪਲ ਮੋ ਬਧ ਕੀਓ ॥੩੮੬॥
sata'run ko pal mo badh keeo ||386||
He destroys the enemies instantly.386.
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਜਾਨਤ ॥
ghaT ghaT ke a(n)tar kee jaanat ||
He knows the inner feelings of every heart
ਭਲੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਕੀ ਪੀਰ ਪਛਾਨਤ ॥
bhale bure kee peer pachhaanat ||
He knows the anguish of both good and bad
ਚੀਟੀ ਤੇ ਕੁੰਚਰ ਅਸਥੂਲਾ ॥
cheeTee te ku(n)char asathoolaa ||
From the ant to the solid elephant
ਸਭ ਪਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰ ਫੂਲਾ ॥੩੮੭॥
sabh par kirapaa dhirasaT kar foolaa ||387||
He casts His Graceful glance on all and feels pleased.387.
ਸੰਤਨ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਤੇ ਦੁਖੀ ॥
sa(n)tan dhukh paae te dhukhee ||
He is painful, when He sees His saints in grief
ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਸਾਧੁਨ ਕੇ ਸੁਖੀ ॥
sukh paae saadhun ke sukhee ||
He is happy, when His saints are happy.
ਏਕ ਏਕ ਕੀ ਪੀਰ ਪਛਾਨੈਂ ॥
ek ek kee peer pachhaanai(n) ||
He knows the agony of everyone
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਕੇ ਪਟ ਪਟ ਕੀ ਜਾਨੈਂ ॥੩੮੮॥
ghaT ghaT ke paT paT kee jaanai(n) ||388||
He knows the innermost secrets of every heart.388.
ਜਬ ਉਦਕਰਖ ਕਰਾ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ ॥
jab udhakarakh karaa karataaraa ||
When the Creator projected Himself,
ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਧਰਤ ਤਬ ਦੇਹ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
prajaa dharat tab dheh apaaraa ||
His creation manifested itself in innumerable forms
ਜਬ ਆਕਰਖ ਕਰਤ ਹੋ ਕਬਹੂੰ ॥
jab aakarakh karat ho kabahoo(n) ||
When at any time He withdraws His creation,
ਤੁਮ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਤ ਦੇਹ ਧਰ ਸਭਹੂੰ ॥੩੮੯॥
tum mai milat dheh dhar sabhahoo(n) ||389||
all the physical forms are merged in Him.389.
ਜੇਤੇ ਬਦਨ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
jete badhan sirasaT sabh dhaarai ||
All the bodies of living beings created in the world
ਆਪੁ ਆਪਨੀ ਬੂਝ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥
aap aapanee boojh uchaarai ||
speak about Him according to their understanding
ਤੁਮ ਸਭਹੀ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ਨਿਰਾਲਮ ॥
tum sabhahee te rahat niraalam ||
But Thou, O Lord! live quite apart from everything
ਜਾਨਤ ਬੇਦ ਭੇਦ ਅਰ ਆਲਮ ॥੩੯੦॥
jaanat bedh bhedh ar aalam ||390||
this fact is know to the Vedas and the learned.390.
ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨ੍ਰਿਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਿਰਲੰਭ ॥
nira(n)kaar nirabikaar nirala(n)bh ||
The Lord is Formless, Sinless and shelterless:
ਆਦਿ ਅਨੀਲ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਅਸੰਭ ॥
aadh aneel anaadh asa(n)bh ||
He is the Primal Power, without Blemish, without Beginning and Unborn
ਤਾਕਾ ਮੂੜ੍ਹ ਉਚਾਰਤ ਭੇਦਾ ॥
taakaa mooRh uchaarat bhedhaa ||
The fool claims boastfully about the knowledge of His secrets,
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਭੇਵ ਨ ਪਾਵਤ ਬੇਦਾ ॥੩੯੧॥
jaa ko bhev na paavat bedhaa ||391||
which even the Vedas do not know.391.
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਹਨ ਅਨੁਮਾਨਤ ॥
taa ko kar paahan anumaanat ||
The fool considers Him a stone,
ਮਹਾ ਮੂੜ੍ਹ ਕਛੁ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ॥
mahaa mooRh kachh bhedh na jaanat ||
but the great fool does not know any secret
ਮਹਾਦੇਵ ਕੋ ਕਹਤ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਵ ॥
mahaadhev ko kahat sadhaa siv ||
He calls Shiva “The Eternal Lord",
ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਕਾ ਚੀਨਤ ਨਹਿ ਭਿਵ ॥੩੯੨॥
nira(n)kaar kaa cheenat neh bhiv ||392||
“but he does not know the secret of the Formless Lord.392.
ਆਪੁ ਆਪਨੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੈ ਜੇਤੀ ॥
aap aapanee budh hai jetee ||
According to ones won intellect,
ਬਰਨਤ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਤੁਹਿ ਤੇਤੀ ॥
baranat bhi(n)n bhi(n)n tuh tetee ||
one describes Thee differently
ਤੁਮਰਾ ਲਖਾ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
tumaraa lakhaa na jai pasaaraa ||
The limits of Thy creation cannot be known
ਕਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥੩੯੩॥
keh bidh sajaa pratham sa(n)saaraa ||393||
and how the world was fashioned in the beginning?393.
ਏਕੈ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਸਰੂਪਾ ॥
ekai roop anoop saroopaa ||
He hath only one unparalleled Form
ਰੰਕ ਭਯੋ ਰਾਵ ਕਹੀ ਭੂਪਾ ॥
ra(n)k bhayo raav kahee bhoopaa ||
He manifests Himself as a poor man or a king at different places
ਅੰਡਜ ਜੇਰਜ ਸੇਤਜ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
a(n)ddaj jeraj setaj keenee ||
He created creatures from eggs, wombs and perspiration
ਉਤਭੁਜ ਖਾਨਿ ਬਹੁਰ ਰਚਿ ਦੀਨੀ ॥੩੯੪॥
autabhuj khaan bahur rach dheenee ||394||
Then He created the vegetable kingdom.394.
ਕਹੂੰ ਫੂਲ ਰਾਜਾ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬੈਠਾ ॥
kahoo(n) fool raajaa havai baiThaa ||
Somewhere He sits joyfully as a king
ਕਹੂੰ ਸਿਮਟਿ ਭ੍ਯਿੋ ਸੰਕਰ ਇਕੈਠਾ ॥
kahoo(n) simaT bhiyo sa(n)kar ikaiThaa ||
Somewhere He contracts Himself as Shiva, the Yogi
ਸਗਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਅਚੰਭਵ ॥
sagaree sirasaT dhikhai acha(n)bhav ||
All His creation unfolds wonderful things
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਰੂਪ ਸੁਯੰਭਵ ॥੩੯੫॥
aadh jugaadh saroop suya(n)bhav ||395||
He, the Primal Power, is from the beginning and Self-Existent.395.
ਅਬ ਰੱਛਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਕਰੋ ॥
ab ra'chhaa meree tum karo ||
O Lord! keep me now under Thy protection
ਸਿੱਖ ਉਬਾਰਿ ਅਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਘਰੋ ॥
si'kh ubaar asi'kh sa(n)gharo ||
Protect my disciples and destroy my enemies
ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਜਿਤੇ ਉਠਵਤ ਉਤਪਾਤਾ ॥
dhushaT jite uThavat utapaataa ||
All the villains creations outrage
ਸਕਲ ਮਲੇਛ ਕਰੋ ਰਣ ਘਾਤਾ ॥੩੯੬॥
sakal malechh karo ran ghaataa ||396||
and all the infidels be destroyed in the battlefield.396.
ਜੇ ਅਸਿਧੁਜ ਤਵ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਰੇ ॥
je asidhuj tav saranee pare ||
O Supreme Destroyer! those who sought Thy refuge,
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੁਖਿਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਮਰੇ ॥
tin ke dhushaT dhukhit havai mare ||
their enemies met painful death
ਪੁਰਖ ਜਵਨ ਪਗ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
purakh javan pag pare tihaare ||
The persons who fell at Thy Feet,
ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਕਟ ਸਭ ਟਾਰੇ ॥੩੯੭॥
tin ke tum sa(n)kaT sabh Taare ||397||
thou didst remove all their troubles.397.
ਜੋ ਕਲਿ ਕੋ ਇਕ ਬਾਰ ਧਿਐ ਹੈ ॥
jo kal ko ik baar dhiaai hai ||
Those who meditate even on the Supreme Destroyer,
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਲ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਹਿ ਐਹੈ ॥
taa ke kaal nikaT neh aaihai ||
death cannot approach them.
ਰੱਛਾ ਹੋਇ ਤਾਹਿ ਸਭ ਕਾਲਾ ॥
ra'chhaa hoi taeh sabh kaalaa ||
They remain protected at all times
ਦੁਸਟ ਅਰਿਸਟ ਟਰੇਂ ਤਤਕਾਲਾ ॥੩੯੮॥
dhusaT arisaT Tare(n) tatakaalaa ||398||
Their enemies and troubles come to and end instantly.398.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਤਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਨਿਹਰਿਹੋ ॥
kirapaa dhirasaT tan jaeh nihariho ||
Upon whomsoever Thou dost cast Thy favourable glance,
ਤਾਕੇ ਤਾਪ ਤਨਕ ਮੋ ਹਰਿਹੋ ॥
taake taap tanak mo hariho ||
they are absolved of sins instantly
ਰਿੱਧਿ ਸਿੱਧਿ ਘਰ ਮੋ ਸਭ ਹੋਈ ॥
ri'dh si'dh ghar mo sabh hoiee ||
They have all the worldly and spiritual pleasures in their homes
ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਛਾਹ ਛ੍ਵੈ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੩੯੯॥
dhushaT chhaeh chhavai sakai na koiee ||399||
None of their enemies can even touch their shadow.399.
ਏਕ ਬਾਰ ਜਿਨ ਤੁਮੈ ਸੰਭਾਰਾ ॥
ek baar jin tumai sa(n)bhaaraa ||
He, who remembered Thee even once,
ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸ ਤੇ ਤਾਹਿ ਉਬਾਰਾ ॥
kaal faas te taeh ubaaraa ||
thou didst protect him from the noose of death
ਜਿਨ ਨਰ ਨਾਮ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਕਹਾ ॥
jin nar naam tihaaro kahaa ||
Those persons, who repeated Thy Name,
ਦਾਰਿਦ ਦੁਸਟ ਦੋਖ ਤੇ ਰਹਾ ॥੪੦੦॥
dhaaridh dhusaT dhokh te rahaa ||400||
they were saved from poverty and attacks of enemies.400.
ਖੜਗ ਕੇਤ ਮੈ ਸਰਣਿ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
khaRag ket mai saran tihaaree ||
O Immortal Being (with the sword on Your banner)! I am under Your protection.
ਆਪ ਹਾਥ ਦੈ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰੀ ॥
aap haath dhai leh ubaaree ||
Give me Your hand and save me.
ਸਰਬ ਠੌਰ ਮੋ ਹੋਹੁ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
sarab Thauar mo hoh sahaiee ||
Stand by me everywhere,
ਦੁਸਟ ਦੋਖ ਤੇ ਲੇਹੁ ਬਚਾਈ ॥੪੦੧॥
dhusaT dhokh te leh bachaiee ||401||
and guard me against enmity and pain. 401.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਹਮ ਪਰ ਜਗਮਾਤਾ ॥
kirapaa karee ham par jagamaataa ||
The Mother of the world has been kind towards me
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਕਰਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੁਭਰਾਤਾ ॥
gra(n)th karaa pooran subharaataa ||
and I have completed the book this auspicious night
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਕਲ ਦੇਹ ਕੋ ਹਰਤਾ ॥
kilabikh sakal dheh ko harataa ||
The Lord is the destroyer of all the sins of the body
ਦੁਸਟ ਦੋਖਿਯਨ ਕੋ ਛੈ ਕਰਤਾ ॥੪੦੨॥
dhusaT dhokhiyan ko chhai karataa ||402||
and all the malicious and wicked persons.402.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਸਿਧੁਜ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਦਯਾਲਾ ॥
sree asidhuj jab bhe dhayaalaa ||
When Mahakal became kind,
ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਾ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਤਤਕਾਲਾ ॥
pooran karaa gra(n)th tatakaalaa ||
he immediately caused me to complete this book
ਮਨ ਬਾਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
man baachhat fal paavai soiee ||
He will obtain the fruit desired by the mind (who will read or listen to this book)
ਦੂਖ ਨ ਤਿਸੈ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਕੋਈ ॥੪੦੩॥
dhookh na tisai biaapat koiee ||403||
and no suffering will occur to him.403.

ARRIL
ਸੁਨੈ ਗੁੰਗ ਜੋ ਯਾਹਿ ਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਪਾਵਈ ॥
sunai gu(n)g jo yaeh su rasanaa paaviee ||
The dumb, who will listen to it, will be blessed with the tongue to speak
ਸੁਨੈ ਮੂੜ ਚਿਤ ਲਾਇ ਚਤੁਰਤਾ ਆਵਈ ॥
sunai mooR chit lai chaturataa aaviee ||
The fool, who will listen to it attentively, will get wisdom
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਭੌ ਨਿਕਟ ਨ ਤਿਨ ਨਰ ਕੇ ਰਹੈ ॥
dhookh dharadh bhau nikaT na tin nar ke rahai ||
That person will be absolved of suffering, pain or fear,
ਹੋ ਜੋ ਯਾ ਕੀ ਏਕ ਬਾਰ ਚੌਪਈ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ॥੪੦੪॥
ho jo yaa kee ek baar chauapiee ko kahai ||404||
Who will even once recite this Chaupai-prayer.404.

SWAYYA
ਪਾਇ ਗਹੇ ਜਬ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਤਬ ਤੇ ਕੋਊ ਆਂਖ ਤਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਆਨਯੋ ॥
pai gahe jab te tumare tab te kouoo aa(n)kh tare nahee aanayo ||
O God! the day when I caught hold of your feet, I do not bring anyone else under my sight
ਰਾਮ ਰਹੀਮ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਹੈਂ ਮਤ ਏਕ ਨ ਮਾਨਯੋ ॥
raam raheem puraan kuraan anek kahai(n) mat ek na maanayo ||
None other is liked by me now the Puranas and the Quran try to know Thee by the names of Ram and Rahim and talk about you through several stories,
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਸਭੈ ਬਹੁ ਭੇਦ ਕਹੈ ਹਮ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨਯੋ ॥
si(n)mirat saasatr bedh sabhai bahu bhedh kahai ham ek na jaanayo ||
The Simritis, Shastras and Vedas describe several mysteries of yours, but I do not agree with any of them.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਸਿਪਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਨ ਕਹਯੋ ਸਭ ਤੋਹਿ ਬਖਾਨਯੋ ॥੮੬੩॥
sree asipaan kirapaa tumaree kar mai na kahayo sabh toh bakhaanayo ||863||
O sword-wielder God! This all has been described by Thy Grace, what power can I have to write all this?.863.

ਸਗਲ ਦੁਆਰ ਕਉ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਗਹਯੋ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
sagal dhuaar kau chhaadd kai gahayo tuhaaro dhuaar ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਨੰਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
anand bhaiā mērī māē satigurū mai pāiā .
I am in ecstasy, O my mother, for I have found my True Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀਆ ਵਾਧਾਈਆ ॥
satigur t pāiā sahaj sētī man vajīā vādhāīā .
I have found the True Guru, with intuitive ease, and my mind vibrates with the music of bliss.
ਰਾਗ ਰਤਨ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਪਰੀਆ ਸਬਦ ਗਾਵਣ ਆਈਆ ॥
rāg ratan paravār parīā sabad gāvan āīā .
The jewelled melodies and their related celestial harmonies have come to sing the Word of the Shabad.
ਸਬਦੋ ਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਹਰੀ ਕੇਰਾ ਮਨਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
sabadō t gāvah harī kērā man jinī vasāiā .
The Lord dwells within the minds of those who sing the Shabad.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
kahai nānak anand hōā satigurū mai pāiā .1.
Says Nanak, I am in ecstasy, for I have found my True Guru. ||1||
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
ē man mēriā tū sadā rah har nālē .
O my mind, remain always with the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਰਹੁ ਤੂ ਮੰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੂਖ ਸਭਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਾ ॥
har nāl rah tū mann mērē dūkh sabh visāranā .
Remain always with the Lord, O my mind, and all sufferings will be forgotten.
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਓਹੁ ਕਰੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਾ ॥
angīkār ōh karē tērā kāraj sabh savāranā .
He will accept You as His own, and all your affairs will be perfectly arranged.
ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥
sabhanā galā samarath suāmī sō kiu manah visārē .
Our Lord and Master is all-powerful to do all things, so why forget Him from your mind?
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੨॥
kahai nānak mann mērē sadā rah har nālē .2.
Says Nanak, O my mind, remain always with the Lord. ||2||
ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ॥
sāchē sāhibā kiā nāhī ghar tērai .
O my True Lord and Master, what is there which is not in Your celestial home?
ਘਰਿ ਤ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁ ਪਾਵਏ ॥
ghar t tērai sabh kish hai jis dēh s pāvaē .
Everything is in Your home; they receive, unto whom You give.
ਸਦਾ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਏ ॥
sadā siphat salāh tērī nām man vasāvaē .
Constantly singing Your Praises and Glories, Your Name is enshrined in the mind.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਵਾਜੇ ਸਬਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥
nām jin kai man vasiā vājē sabad ghanērē .
The divine melody of the Shabad vibrates for those, within whose minds the Naam abides.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
kahai nānak sachē sāhib kiā nāhī ghar tērai .3.
Says Nanak, O my True Lord and Master, what is there which is not in Your home? ||3||
ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥
sāchā nām mērā ādhārō .
The True Name is my only support.
ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਭੁਖਾ ਸਭਿ ਗਵਾਈਆ ॥
sāch nām adhār mērā jin bhukhā sabh gavāīā .
The True Name is my only support; it satisfies all hunger.
ਕਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਛਾ ਸਭਿ ਪੁਜਾਈਆ ॥
kar sānht sukh man āi vasiā jin ishā sabh pujāīā .
It has brought peace and tranquility to my mind; it has fulfilled all my desires.
ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆ ਏਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥
sadā kurabān kītā gurū vitah jis dīā ēh vadiāīā .
I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru, who possesses such glorious greatness.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਰਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥
kahai nānak sunah santah sabad dharah piārō .
Says Nanak, listen, O Saints; enshrine love for the Shabad.
ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥੪॥
sāchā nām mērā ādhārō .4.
The True Name is my only support. ||4||
ਵਾਜੇ ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ॥
vājē panch sabad tit ghar sabhāgai .
The Panch Shabad, the five primal sounds, vibrate in that blessed house.
ਘਰਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਕਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥
ghar sabhāgai sabad vājē kalā jit ghar dhārīā .
In that blessed house, the Shabad vibrates; He infuses His almighty power into it.
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
panch dūt tudh vas kītē kāl kantak māriā .
Through You, we subdue the five demons of desire, and slay Death, the torturer.
ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
dhur karam pāiā tudh jin kau s nām har kai lāgē .
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny are attached to the Lord's Name.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਆ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ॥੫॥
kahai nānak tah sukh hōā tit ghar anahad vājē .5.
Says Nanak, they are at peace, and the unstruck sound current vibrates within their homes. ||5||
ਅਨਦੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
anad sunah vadabhāgīhō sagal manōrath pūrē .
Listen to the song of bliss, O most fortunate ones; all your longings shall be fulfilled.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਉਤਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ॥
pārabraham prabh pāiā utarē sagal visūrē .
I have obtained the Supreme Lord God, and all sorrows have been forgotten.
ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਉਤਰੇ ਸੁਣੀ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
dūkh rōg santāp utarē sunī sachī bānī .
Pain, illness and suffering have departed, listening to the True Bani.
ਸੰਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਭਏ ਸਰਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
sant sājan bhaē sarasē pūrē gur tē jānī .
The Saints and their friends are in ecstasy, knowing the Perfect Guru.
ਸੁਣਤੇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਹਤੇ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
sunatē punīt kahatē pavit satigur rahiā bharapūrē .
Pure are the listeners, and pure are the speakers; the True Guru is all-pervading and permeating.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰੇ ॥੪੦॥੧॥
binavant nānak gur charan lāgē vājē anahad tūrē .40.1.
Prays Nanak, touching the Guru's Feet, the unstruck sound current of the celestial bugles vibrates and resounds. ||40||1||
ਮੁੰਦਾਵਣੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
mundāvanī mahalā 5 .
Mundaavanee, Fifth Mehl:
ਥਾਲ ਵਿਚਿ ਤਿੰਨਿ ਵਸਤੂ ਪਈਓ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੋ ॥
thāl vich tinn vasatū paīō sat santōkh vīchārō .
Upon this Plate, three things have been placed: Truth, Contentment and Contemplation.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਪਇਓ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਭਸੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥
anmrit nām thākur kā paiō jis kā sabhas adhārō .
The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of our Lord and Master, has been placed upon it as well; it is the Support of all.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਖਾਵੈ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਭੁੰਚੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੋ ॥
jē kō khāvai jē kō bhunchai tis kā hōi udhārō .
One who eats it and enjoys it shall be saved.
ਏਹ ਵਸਤੁ ਤਜੀ ਨਹ ਜਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਰਖੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੋ ॥
ēh vasat tajī nah jāī nit nit rakh ur dhārō .
This thing can never be forsaken; keep this always and forever in your mind.
ਤਮ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਚਰਨ ਲਗਿ ਤਰੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
tam sansār charan lag tarīai sabh nānak braham pasārō .1.
The dark world-ocean is crossed over, by grasping the Feet of the Lord; O Nanak, it is all the extension of God. ||1||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
salōk mahalā 5 .
Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਤੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈਨੋ ਜੋਗੁ ਕੀਤੋਈ ॥
tērā kītā jātō nāhī mainō jōg kītōī .
I have not appreciated what You have done for me, Lord; only You can make me worthy.
ਮੈ ਨਿਰਗੁਣਿਆਰੇ ਕੋ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਆਪੇ ਤਰਸੁ ਪਇਓਈ ॥
mai niraguniārē kō gun nāhī āpē taras paiōī .
I am unworthy - I have no worth or virtues at all. You have taken pity on me.
ਤਰਸੁ ਪਇਆ ਮਿਹਰਾਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥
taras paiā miharāmat hōī satigur sajan miliā .
You took pity on me, and blessed me with Your Mercy, and I have met the True Guru, my Friend.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਥੀਵੈ ਹਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
nānak nām milai tānh jīvānh tan man thīvai hariā .1.
O Nanak, if I am blessed with the Naam, I live, and my body and mind blossom forth. ||1||
