Pauree:
ਸਭੇ ਦੁਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਜਾਂ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਭੁਲੀਐ ॥
sabhē dukh santāp jānh tudhah bhulīai .
When I forget You, I endure all pains and afflictions.
ਜੇ ਕੀਚਨਿ ਲਖ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਾਂ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਘੁਲੀਐ ॥
jē kīchan lakh upāv tānh kahī n ghulīai .
Making thousands of efforts, they are still not eliminated.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ਸੁ ਨਿਰਧਨੁ ਕਾਂਢੀਐ ॥
jis nō visarai nāu s niradhan kānhdhīai .
One who forgets the Name, is known as a poor person.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ਸੋ ਜੋਨੀ ਹਾਂਢੀਐ ॥
jis nō visarai nāu sō jōnī hānhdhīai .
One who forgets the Name, wanders in reincarnation.
ਜਿਸੁ ਖਸਮੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਮੁ ਡੰਡੁ ਦੇ ॥
jis khasam n āvai chit tis jam dand dē .
One who does not remember his Lord and Master, is punished by the Messenger of Death.
ਜਿਸੁ ਖਸਮੁ ਨ ਆਵੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਰੋਗੀ ਸੇ ਗਣੇ ॥
jis khasam n āvī chit rōgī sē ganē .
One who does not remember his Lord and Master, is judged to be a sick person.
ਜਿਸੁ ਖਸਮੁ ਨ ਆਵੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਸੁ ਖਰੋ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀਆ ॥
jis khasam n āvī chit s kharō ahankārīā .
One who does not remember his Lord and Master, is egotistical and proud.
ਸੋਈ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ਜਗਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਉ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਆ ॥੧੪॥
sōī duhēlā jag jin nāu visārīā .14.
One who forgets the Name is miserable in this world. ||14||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਤੈਡੀ ਬੰਦਸਿ ਮੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਡਿਠਾ ਤੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
taidī bandas mai kōi n dithā tū nānak man bhānā .
I have not seen any other like You. You alone are pleasing to Nanak's mind.
ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਚੋਲੇ ਜੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
ghōl ghumāī tis mitr vichōlē jai mil kant pashānā .1.
I am a dedicated, devoted sacrifice to that friend, that mediator, who leads me to recognize my Husband Lord. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਪਾਵ ਸੁਹਾਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਤਉ ਧਿਰਿ ਜੁਲਦੇ ਸੀਸੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਚਰਣੀ ॥
pāv suhāvē jānh tau dhir juladē sīs suhāvā charanī .
Beautiful are those feet which walk towards You; beautiful is that head which falls at Your Feet.
ਮੁਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਜਾਂ ਤਉ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਪਇਆ ਤਉ ਸਰਣੀ ॥੨॥
mukh suhāvā jānh tau jas gāvai jīu paiā tau saranī .2.
Beautiful is that mouth which sings Your Praises; beautiful is that soul which seeks Your Sanctuary. ||2||

Pauree:
ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਰੀ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵੀਆ ॥
mil nārī satasang mangal gāvīā .
Meeting the Lord's brides, in the True Congregation, I sing the songs of joy.
ਘਰ ਕਾ ਹੋਆ ਬੰਧਾਨੁ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਵੀਆ ॥
ghar kā hōā bandhān bahur n dhāvīā .
The home of my heart is now held steady, and I shall not go out wandering again.
ਬਿਨਠੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੁਰਤੁ ਸੋਇ ਕੂੜਾਵੀਆ ॥
binathī duramat durat sōi kūrāvīā .
Evil-mindedness has been dispelled, along with sin and my bad reputation.
ਸੀਲਵੰਤਿ ਪਰਧਾਨਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਚਾਵੀਆ ॥
sīlavant paradhān ridai sachāvīā .
I am well-known as being calm and good-natured; my heart is filled with Truth.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਇਕ ਰੀਤਾਵੀਆ ॥
antar bāhar ik ik rītāvīā .
Inwardly and outwardly, the One and only Lord is my way.
ਮਨਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਚਰਣ ਦਾਸਾਵੀਆ ॥
man darasan kī piās charan dāsāvīā .
My mind is thirsty for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. I am a slave at His feet.
ਸੋਭਾ ਬਣੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਖਸਮਿ ਜਾਂ ਰਾਵੀਆ ॥
sōbhā banī sīgār khasam jānh rāvīā .
I am glorified and embellished, when my Lord and Master enjoys me.
ਮਿਲੀਆ ਆਇ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਜਾਂ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੀਆ ॥੧੫॥
milīā āi sanjōg jānh tis bhāvīā .15.
I meet Him through my blessed destiny, when it is pleasing to His Will. ||15||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਭਿ ਗੁਣ ਤੈਡੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਉ ਮੈ ਕੂ ਥੀਏ ਮੈ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
habh gun taidē nānak jīu mai kū thīē mai niragun tē kiā hōvai .
All virtues are Yours, Dear Lord; You bestow them upon us. I am unworthy - what can I achieve, O Nanak?
ਤਉ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਚਕੁ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਚੋਵੈ ॥੧॥
tau jēvad dātār n kōī jāchak sadā jāchōvai .1.
There is no other Giver as great as You. I am a beggar; I beg from You forever. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਦੇਹ ਛਿਜੰਦੜੀ ਊਣ ਮਝੂਣਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਜਣਿ ਜੀਉ ਧਰਾਇਆ ॥
dēh shijandarī ūn majhūnā gur sajan jīu dharāiā .
My body was wasting away, and I was depressed. The Guru, my Friend, has encouraged and consoled me.
ਹਭੇ ਸੁਖ ਸੁਹੇਲੜਾ ਸੁਤਾ ਜਿਤਾ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
habhē sukh suhēlarā sutā jitā jag sabāiā .2.
I sleep in total peace and comfort; I have conquered the whole world. ||2||

Pauree:
ਵਡਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਤਖਤੁ ॥
vadā tērā darabār sachā tudh takhat .
The Darbaar of Your Court is glorious and great. Your holy throne is True.
ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਚਉਰੁ ਛਤੁ ॥
sir sāhā pātisāh nihachal chaur shat .
You are the Emperor over the heads of kings. Your canopy and chauree (fly-brush) are permanent and unchanging.
ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੋਈ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਆਉ ॥
jō bhāvai pārabraham sōī sach niāu .
That alone is true justice, which is pleasing to the Will of the Supreme Lord God.
ਜੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਥਾਉ ॥
jē bhāvai pārabraham nithāvē milai thāu .
Even the homeless receive a home, when it is pleasing to the Will of the Supreme Lord God.
ਜੋ ਕੀਨ੍ਹੀ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਗਲ ॥
jō kīnhī karatār sāī bhalī gal .
Whatever the Creator Lord does, is a good thing.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹੀ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਸੇ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਮਲ ॥
jinhī pashātā khasam sē daragāh mal .
Those who recognize their Lord and Master, are seated in the Court of the Lord.
ਸਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਫੁਰਮਾਨੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਫੇਰੀਐ ॥
sahī tērā phuramān kinai n phērīai .
True is Your Command; no one can challenge it.
ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਣ ਕਰੀਮ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੀਐ ॥੧੬॥
kāran karan karīm kudarat tērīai .16.
O Merciful Lord, Cause of causes, Your creative power is all-powerful. ||16||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੋਇ ਸੁਣੰਦੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੰਦੜੀ ਲਾਲੀ ॥
sōi sunandarī mērā tan man maulā nām japandarī lālī .
Hearing of You, my body and mind have blossomed forth; chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I am flushed with life.
ਪੰਧਿ ਜੁਲੰਦੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਦਰੁ ਠੰਢਾ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀ ॥੧॥
pandh julandarī mērā andar thandhā gur darasan dēkh nihālī .1.
Walking on the Path, I have found cool tranquility deep within; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan, I am enraptured. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਹਠ ਮੰਝਾਹੂ ਮੈ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਲਧਾ ॥
hath manjhāhū mai mānak ladhā .
I have found the jewel within my heart.
ਮੁਲਿ ਨ ਘਿਧਾ ਮੈ ਕੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤਾ ॥
mul n ghidhā mai kū satigur ditā .
I was not charged for it; the True Guru gave it to me.
ਢੂੰਢ ਵਞਾਈ ਥੀਆ ਥਿਤਾ ॥
dhūndh vañāī thīā thitā .
My search has ended, and I have become stable.
ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਤਾ ॥੨॥
janam padārath nānak jitā .2.
O Nanak, I have conquered this priceless human life. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
jis kai masatak karam hōi sō sēvā lāgā .
One who has such good karma inscribed upon his forehead, is committed to the Lord's service.
ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਸੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਾ ॥
jis gur mil kamal pragāsiā sō anadin jāgā .
One whose heart lotus blossoms forth upon meeting the Guru, remains awake and aware, night and day.
ਲਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਚਰਣਾਰਬਿੰਦ ਸਭੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
lagā rang charanārabind sabh bhram bhau bhāgā .
All doubt and fear run away from one who is in love with the Lord's lotus feet.
