ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੇਹਾ ॥
anmrit bānī satigur pūrē kī jis kirapāl hōvai tis ridai vasēhā .
The Word of the Perfect True Guru's Bani is Ambrosial Nectar; it dwells in the heart of one who is blessed by the Guru's Mercy.
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕਟੀਐ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਹਾ ॥੨॥
āvan jānā tis kā katīai sadā sadā sukh hōhā .2.
His coming and going in reincarnation is ended; forever and ever, he is at peace. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਜੰਤੁ ਸੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਬੁਝਈ ॥
jō tudh bhānā jant sō tudh bujhaī .
He alone understands You, Lord, with whom You are pleased.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਜੰਤੁ ਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਿਝਈ ॥
jō tudh bhānā jant s daragah sijhaī .
He alone is approved in the Court of the Lord, with whom You are pleased.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਗਈ ॥
jis nō tērī nadar haumai tis gaī .
Egotism is eradicated, when You bestow Your Grace.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਸੰਤੁਸਟੁ ਕਲਮਲ ਤਿਸੁ ਖਈ ॥
jis nō tū santusat kalamal tis khaī .
Sins are erased, when You are thoroughly pleased.
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਲਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸੋ ਭਈ ॥
jis kai suāmī val nirabhau sō bhaī .
One who has the Lord Master on his side, becomes fearless.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਸਚਾ ਸੋ ਥਿਅਈ ॥
jis nō tū kirapāl sachā sō thiaī .
One who is blessed with Your Mercy, becomes truthful.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਇਆ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ਅਗਨਈ ॥
jis nō tērī maiā n pōhai aganaī .
One who is blessed with Your Kindness, is not touched by fire.
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਤਿ ਲਈ ॥੭॥
tis nō sadā daiāl jin gur tē mat laī .7.
You are forever Merciful to those who are receptive to the Guru's Teachings. ||7||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈ ॥

Please grant Your Grace, O Merciful Lord; please forgive me.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਪੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਇ ਪੈ ॥
sadā sadā japī tērā nām satigur pāi pai .
Forever and ever, I chant Your Name; I fall at the feet of the True Guru.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੁ ਦੂਖਾ ਨਾਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
man tan antar vas dūkhā nās hōi .
Please, dwell within my mind and body, and end my sufferings.
ਹਥ ਦੇਇ ਆਪਿ ਰਖੁ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਭਉ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
hath dēi āp rakh viāpai bhau n kōi .
Please give me Your hand, and save me, that fear may not afflict me.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਏਤੈ ਕੰਮਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
gun gāvā din rain ētai kanm lāi .
May I sing Your Glorious Praises day and night; please commit me to this task.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
sant janā kai sang haumai rōg jāi .
Associating with the humble Saints, the disease of egotism is eradicated.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥
sarab nirantar khasam ēkō rav rahiā .
The One Lord and Master is all-pervading, permeating everywhere.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਲਹਿਆ ॥
gur parasādī sach sachō sach lahiā .
By Guru's Grace, I have truly found the Truest of the True.
ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਅਪਣੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਦੇਹੁ ॥
daiā karah daiāl apanī siphat dēh .
Please bless me with Your Kindness, O Kind Lord, and bless me with Your Praises.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਏਹ ॥੧॥
darasan dēkh nihāl nānak prīt ēh .1.
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, I am in ecstasy; this is what Nanak loves. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਏਕੋ ਜਪੀਐ ਮਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਇਕਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥
ēkō japīai manai māh ikas kī saranāi .
Meditate on the One Lord within your mind, and enter the Sanctuary of the One Lord alone.
ਇਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
ikas siu kar piraharī dūjī nāhī jāi .
Be in love with the One Lord; there is no other at all.
ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
ikō dātā mangīai sabh kish palai pāi .
Beg from the One Lord, the Great Giver, and you will be blessed with everything.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਇਕੋ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
man tan sās girās prabh ikō ik dhiāi .
In your mind and body, with each breath and morsel of food, meditate on the One and only Lord God.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
anmrit nām nidhān sach guramukh pāiā jāi .
The Gurmukh obtains the true treasure, the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਇ ॥
vadabhāgī tē sant jan jin man vuthā āi .
Very fortunate are those humble Saints, within whose minds the Lord has come to abide.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jal thal mahīal rav rahiā dūjā kōī nāh .
He is pervading and permeating the water, the land and the sky; there is no other at all.
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਖਸਮ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
nām dhiāī nām ucharā nānak khasam rajāi .2.
Meditating on the Naam, and chanting the Naam, Nanak abides in the Will of his Lord and Master. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ॥
jis nō tū rakhavālā mārē tis kaun .
One who has You as his Saving Grace - who can kill him?
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਜਿਤਾ ਤਿਨੈ ਭੈਣੁ ॥
jis nō tū rakhavālā jitā tinai bhain .
One who has You as his Saving Grace conquers the three worlds.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੁਖੁ ਉਜਲਾ ॥
jis nō tērā ang tis mukh ujalā .
One who has You on his side - his face is radiant and bright.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਸੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੀ ਹੂੰ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ॥
jis nō tērā ang s niramalī hūn niramalā .
One who has You on his side, is the purest of the Pure.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਲੇਖਾ ਪੁਛੀਐ ॥
jis nō tērī nadar n lēkhā pushīai .
One who is blessed with Your Grace is not called to give his account.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਖੁਸੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਭੁੰਚੀਐ ॥
jis nō tērī khusī tin nau nidh bhunchīai .
One with whom You are pleased, obtains the nine treasures.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵਲਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹਛੰਦਗੀ ॥
jis nō tū prabh val tis kiā muhashandagī .
One who has You on his side, God - unto whom is he subservient?
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਬੰਦਿਗੀ ॥੮॥
jis nō tērī mihar s tērī bandigī .8.
One who is blessed with Your Kind Mercy is dedicated to Your worship. ||8||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਿਹਾਵੇ ॥
hōh kripāl suāmī mērē santānh sang vihāvē .
Be Merciful, O my Lord and Master, that I may pass my life in the Society of the Saints.
ਤੁਧਹੁ ਭੁਲੇ ਸਿ ਜਮਿ ਜਮਿ ਮਰਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੁਕਨਿ ਹਾਵੇ ॥੧॥
tudhah bhulē s jam jam maradē tin kadē n chukan hāvē .1.
Those who forget You are born only to die and be reincarnated again; their sufferings will never end. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਟਿ ਅਵਘਟਿ ਘਟ ਘਾਟ ॥
satigur simarah āpanā ghat avaghat ghat ghāt .
Meditate in remembrance within your heart on the True Guru, whether you are on the most difficult path, on the mountain or by the river bank.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੰਤਿਆ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਬੰਧੈ ਵਾਟ ॥੨॥
har har nām japantiā kōi n bandhai vāt .2.
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, no one shall block your way. ||2||
